Not really, i would just make sure you have got out as much water from the brush as possible first.

Do I have to clean after every use , ie wash the roller and hepa and self cleaning?

You don't have to was it out after every time of using it, but it can depend on when you will use it next time and also what you have been sucking up. You don't have to use the cleaning solution, but the performance of the clean can be better if you do use it.

What about the carpets? Does it still dry clean the carpets?

You may be ok on a short pile carpet but it is really designed as a hard floor cleaner
