Just what I needed. Looking to buy new freestanding cooker.

When measuring the depth of a cooker, in my case a gas cooker, how much space do I need to include for the gas hose behind..obviously the cooker isn't going to be fully flush to the wall!?? If you could answer this question question. ..that would be great.
@lords-electrical8 ай бұрын
I would normally allow another 2-3 cm but have a look at the back of the cooker you are thinking of buying as some of them will have an extra lip on the top to allow for the cooker to be pushed back to the wall.

@lords-electrical Thanks for replying.. Another quick question!..the steel racks in a oven ..I prefer to take them out , especially when cleaning..the ones that are screwed in...makes it difficult to clean...and adjust the shelf heights...what is your view on this please!?

Thank you. This presentation was very helpful. Tell me is it true that Eye level grill gas cooker are better than other free standing gas cookers? Especially if you have back pain. Thank you.

This was really informative and helpful, thank you. Just one question: I'm in the market for a new cooker and would really like an electric one, with separate, raised rings, not a flat plate, as well as a fan oven. However, I have heard that these types of electric cookers with raised rings typically do not have any fan ovens. Do you know what the reason for this may be? I would much prefer this style cooker as I'm totally blind and it's just much easier to cook securely and with confidence when I can tell which ring I'm on...

What a superb explaination of the up to date information about free standing cookers, I live alone now and my old family 10 years old cooker main oven has died so I am looking to see what I need to replace it with, could not have asked for a better. I am also an ex teacher, trainer and instructor and Iyou certainly know how to put over information as well.

So I don't need a gap on the sides then? as I read you do need this for air flow which seemed odd as the its usually coming from the back? And pictures of most ovens are all firmly inside no gaps. Of course the space on sides is good for storing things too.
@lords-electricalАй бұрын
You don't normally need to allow space down the side of the appliance just the back that needs ventilation.

The quality on the Rangemaster products is normally very good. I must admit i haven't seen one in the flesh but if they are as good as the full size range cookers then it should be a great product.

Im looking at two gas cookers and both are very similar. They both have a wok burner, one is 3kW and the other is 3.5kW. Does the 0.5kW really make a big difference for wok cooking? The higher power burner also has an oven that goes up to 275°C while the lower power one goes to 250°C. Does this matter for cooking the basic oven dishes?
@lords-electrical3 жыл бұрын
It won't really make a difference on the oven, as you will rarely cook anything above 220c in the oven anyway. Also the 0.5kw will not really make that much difference as well, again you will rarely have the wok burner on maximum for any length of time.

@@lords-electrical Awesome thanks that's what my gut was telling me as well but it's good to get some confirmation. The less powerful cooker looks a lot better and the grills are a lot sturdier. I think in every day use, I'll prefer that. Thanks for your help!

the oven (60cm width) I'm looking at curry says the minimum distance required is 65mm to the sides; does that mean I shouldn't get it if the space is 62.5cm wide?

Thanks for the video. I received new Hotpoint gas freestanding cooker today, only to realise it juts out a few centimetres past the worktops, as the copper gas pipe and gas hose at the back take up space. Also, it turns out the old cooker it was replacing was 59cm in depth. Are there any brands of cooker which might be shallower or recessed more at the back, that you can recommend?

I have a max budget of £400 for a 60cm cooker. In your opinion, are there any brands that I should avoid and are there any brands you would recommend? And in todays financial climate, which would you recommend between gas and electric for economy purposes? Cheers.

Hi, My son is buying a 600mm wide standalone cooker to replace a narrower one. We cut the excess worktop and now have a gap of EXACTLY 600mm. Will the new cooker fit in? Some people have said an actual 600mm cooker measurements are usually 595mm but it doesn't state that in the online manual. As an expert, could you tell me if this is usually the case?
