This project was a turn-based strategy / RPG from Impressions Games (Sierra). Between 1997-98, I created a fantasy-based soundtrack to set the scene for the land of Urak.
It was innovative game music for its time, and though a bit dated by today's standards, it's still the most requested of all of the soundtracks I've worked on -- most people ask me for the guitar "tab" for the Order track, but I actually performed it on a keyboard! The Roland JV-1080 was a really fun synthesizer to work with and comprised much of the work here (along with an E-mu Ultraproteus, Yamaha MU-80 and a couple of E-mu ESI-series samplers).
It was a joy to create this soundtrack, and I hope Sierra makes a sequel one day soon!
The music was released for Lords of Magic, Special Edition, and Legends of Urak.

This has always been my favourite song from Lords of Magic, I love the way that it starts out with an ominously quiet section before sparking into life. Maybe I'm just a huge sucker for anything fire themed.

duuuuuude when that clarinet crescendos and does it's little solo......wowzers. So good! Love how all the songs from each region flowed so well into each other and retained the uniqueness of their region. One of the best fantasy soundtracks to this day!

Everything burns... Bringing the burn! Spreaaading the fouiiiirya! ...Yeah that's about all the short fire quotes I can remember. The last one made me laugh (little fire thief), I still remember her exaggerated accent.

Fire was the first faith I killed Balkoth with. He was at my southern border. My Fire Giant warrior had just left and was going north after having maxed out the XP on my lvl 3 barracks. Balkoth took my watchtower. I trained a massive army of merc flame raiders and giants, sent them in. Softened him up. Killed like 1/3 of his people. Came in next turn, he had his spells back, but not his men. Balky murdered himself stabbing my Fire Giant King with his scythe. . .he had dragon armor on, and every time balky hit him, he got blasted with flames. Was awesome.

i would say fire chaos and air are the hardest starts for sure there units are all squishy until they are higher level

Agreed, but I add air to the list. Me being a stubborn mule of a child playing on hard didnt expect balkoth to actually fly over the ocean to get to me, but he did round turn 55 and i was not prepared at all. I chose a mage next time and stunned his ass over and over again. Death can be hard to overcome after all, but with some cheese and getting softened by the air drakes fireballs, I got my first victory the next playthrough.

@@ciaranconner4770 I find air to be pretty cheap, considering their melee units could not hit your flying ranged units, so if you made sure to parry and focus fire their only archers, you can beat any level.

Difficulty for me (1 is easyest, 8 is hardest) 1- Death 2- Water 3- Order 4- Life 5- Air 6- Earth 7- Chaos 8- Fire
