As one of Stiv's old friends, it gives me hope that people realize where he was coming from, so long ago, and THAT is what IMORTALITY is a about! THE SOUL REASON he changed his style, was to reach more people, with the same PUNK attitude...and message! "Stiv...IT WORKED"! YOU CAN REST IN PEACE!

Appreciate the qualities of this song; 1-The words are sung pure and without any technology improvements. 2-The sax solo 3-The infectious bass line throughout 4-The musical influences of reggae, latin, classical (harpsicord intro), Dylanesque vocal delivery and Morrison-esque stage presence 5-We will never see such talent again (my prediction) 6-The ability to use music to influence politically in a melodic and hypnotic way 7-His words were true as we can see now how the media and politicians conspire against the very people they swore to protect and serve.

Definitely at a time when both the mainstream and the underground were mostly devoid of social/political content. I was deeply involved in the college radio/CMJ scene that unintendedly induced the major label feeding frenzy that kneecapped the music just as it was gaining traction. It took a number of years and direct distribution of easy to ship/cheap to produce CD's for the touring underground scene to recover. I can explain why it all got wrecked again because of a certain label CEO's crush on a certain vulnerable bandleader...
