Regarding Radagon and Marika, I think an answer to the big mystery is found with Rykard's great rune. It says that the children of Radagon and Rennalla became demigods by becoming the step-children of Marika when her and Radagon had their "union." So this basically confirms that Radagon was separate from Marika because his children were not demigods until he and Marika united, and the use of the word "union" is very particular in the item description as a double meaning for marriage and their fusion. Also, I think empyreans were not born, but it is something one becomes. I don't recall the exact reference to this concept, but I will look more into it. I just know that Marika was whatever the species of Black Dagger Assassins is, before becoming a god. How this translates to Ranni is beyond me at the moment, I'll check back in though and edit this with new info

I believe Radagon is the Elden Beast's version of a Mimic Tear Marika. the elden beast after marika's body falls immediately inhabits Radagon's body to fight us, and upon his defeat exits Radagon's body and fights us in it's true form. I think the elden beast is a sort of parasitical mimic that can inhabit a vessel like Marika, and then create it's own being from that vessel the same way mimic tears work.
