loreena is one of those artists that can create an entire vision in your mind when she sings. You don't just hear her music, you SEE what she's singing about. My favorite, for personal reasons, is "Night Ride Across The Caucasus". I don't know if there's an M/V, but it doesn't matter.

This concert was filmed at Alhambra in Spain. Loreena sings traditional Irish music. She has a lovely voice. Other songs to check out are Dante's Prayer and 12 Raglan Road. Glad you enjoyed this. I listen to everything from heavy metal to new age music. This concert is available on CD/DVD and not to mention KZbin.

Fell in love with her voice and the kind of music when I watched the Avalon film (with this song in it) as a teenager. At least once a year I watch this concert on DVD and this still is my favourite song.

Cool choice for a reaction! What’s fascinating about Loreena is just how many genres and sub-genres she explores. Her catalogue can be broken down into traditional-sounding Celtic/Irish music, Middle Eastern music, and piano ballads, plus combinations of all three. But it’s also so much more. She describes her music as a form of “travel writing”, developed as she’s studied the history of the Celtic tribes from Europe through Asia and everywhere in between (thus the strong Middle Eastern influences as her albums progressed over the years).On top of that, she’ll write and compose haunting original songs (like this one), but also just as well adapt a centuries-old melody or poem to song, even from the likes of Shakespeare himself. Oh, and she also plays harp, piano, and accordion, is her own manager, and is the only artist on her own record label, 100% controlling her own career in all aspects from the beginning. Record labels famously bowed to her wishes and terms when they offered to help with distribution when her career really started to take off.Her music truly takes you to another place, and she has a song for every mood. Want some Celtic ethereal peace? Courtyard Lullaby. Want to break your heart and put it back together? Dante’s Prayer. Want to bellydance? Marco Polo. Want an ancient Celtic/Eastern bonfire festival? All Souls Night. Want an Irish breakup by the ocean? The Old Ways. Want a slow, hypnotizing camel ride through the desert? The Gates of Istanbul. And those are all just individual examples out of her countless songs that take you to equally amazing times and places.Welcome to an amazing new musical world like no other! :)

Or if you're in a spooky mood or wanting some new Halloween tunes for your seasonal playlists, The Highwayman & The Stolen Child. Skellig is also a beautiful and heartbreaking track about the monks who resided within skelligs as part of their faith. I'd mention The Old Ways as it's my fave if it hadn't been mentioned previously. As for a beautiful love song though, try Samhain Night. Pure perfection that.

I'm glad to see more appreciation coming for Lorenna's music with time. I grew up with her music as my Dad and Mother(who came across her as young adults or teens), introduced my sisters and I to her young. I've loved her since I was single digits, but only really began exploring her music past All Souls Night as a young teen before adoring a vast majority of her tracks by the time I graduated high school. Through her and Celtic Woman, I found other bands to love equally. Nightwish, Blackmore's Night, and more. Hell I even came to love and discover Two Steps From Hell, Immediate Music/Globus, & E.S. Posthumus through my love of Lorenna's work. Instrumentals were always a staple of hers after all, with my time as a choir student only strengthening my love for her and other artists I'd soon discover. I'll always be thankful for her work. Speaking of Celtic Woman though, perhaps react to their live performance of Tíer Abháile Ríu(probably mispelled that though, Gaelic is hard no matter the dialect). The girls actually have a full on song fight of a sort(albiet scripted obviously) to really get ya into the mood of the song itself. Also recommend Duláman, The Sky and The Dawn and The Sun, The Awakening, A Spaceman Came Traveling, The Call, You'll Be In My Heart(cover), The Prayer. And anything fiddle player Maíread Nesbitt did for the group before moving on a few years back for a solo career, she has her own channel as well if it makes it easier.

@ChrisEchoes3 жыл бұрын
Her albums up to Caravanserai are like musical documentaries on which she traces the roots of Irish / Celtic music and culture. Roots that can be traced back to the Mediterranean and even beyond (look up the red haired mummies that were found in China). So right here you see instruments that are usually associated with Celtic music (fiddle, harp , acoustic guitar) combined with instruments from beyond that sphere like the hurdy gurdy, the Turkish oud and various instruments from the Mediterranean. The Alhambra building is in Spain and itself is a example of different influences. Spain was at some point ruled by the Moors and as such you see Arabic influences in the architecture.

Hello! Most of the instruments have ancient Greek roots. The one with the many strings , that the instrument player plays with the tips of his fingers is /kanonaki/. Kanon in ancient Greek and qanun in Arabic. it is very common in the middle eastern music and as well in traditional Greek music. Those that look like guitar are /laouto/ and /outi/. Both common in the middle eastern music. And lastly, the one that looks like a violin but the player rests it on his knee is /lyra/. Greek traditional instrument, known from ancient Greek history. Very common and in variations in Cretan and Pontian Greek music. All those instruments were used in the Byzantine times. Of course all these instruments are common in the eastern part of the Mediterranian sea , since those countries share so much history.

lyrics A clouded dream on an earthly night Hangs upon the crescent moon A voiceless song in an ageless light Sings at the coming dawn Birds in flight are calling there Where the heart moves the stones It's there that my heart is longing for All for the love of you A painting hangs on an ivy wall Nestled in the emerald moss Eyes declare a truce of trust And then it draws me far away Where deep in the desert twilight Sand melts in pools of the sky Darkness lays her crimson cloak Your lamps will call, call me home And so it's there my homage's due Clutched by the still of the night And now I feel, feel you move And every breath is full So it's there my homage's due Clutched by the still of the night Even the distance feels so near All for the love of you A clouded dream on an earthly night Hangs upon the crescent moon A voiceless song in an ageless light Sings at the coming dawn Birds in flight are calling there Where the heart moves the stones It's there that my heart is longing for All for the love of you

Hey there highly combustible, I tell you the truth , that concert , Loreena McKennitt, Nights from the Alhambra, the live concert where are you can see her performing live, they are in Granada, Spain, at the Alhambra! The musicians are incredible! I sold the stage, and the place itself! And she! Please get a chance and watch the whole thing! Sometimes on KZbin, it’s a bit hard to see in its entirety, you have to go on djfantastik 19 videos , there you will find the whole concert almost in its entirety, cept if, a brief deletion of applauses , and when i first watched this concert when it first aired , it was in a little different perspective view . But this is an incredible concert! The Bonny Swan song where the dude playing electric guitar and the violin player talk to each other, echoing back to each other, which I love! And that chick on the cello! And all those instruments that we don’t usually recognize, wow! Dantes prayer gives me chills! Caravanserai is another great one, that piece is talking about a caravan in the Sahara desert. The old ways, is another that gives me chills! The Huron ‘Beltane’ fire dance, wow , the whole stage vibrates, all the musicians are playing together, it’s electric! The whole dang concert , WOWING! Take the time, listen and WATCH, ( some, just a couple pieces, you might not jive with, but hang on and in, ✌️☮️🕊️🥰💖

Also, Dantes prayer, has made me cry , several times, listened to via the nights from the Alhambra, live concert sooo beautiful! BEAUTIFUL. Also The Old Ways, I have cried, listening from same live concert . You ought to look up some of the lyrics to some of the songs in this concert, NIGHTS FROM THE ALHAMBRA. Like the Bonny Swans song, , trippy! And all the songs , look up the lyrics, it draws you in more! Also read the history about the Alhambra, the Moors, the Christians , Islam. The architecture. Anyway , when music, a song , a piece, instruments, instrumentals, can make you cry, and or have a physical / emotional / mental,/ spiritual reaction , that is when you know it is powerful and how it speaks to your soul and spirit. Great pieces of art do this to me! And some of these pieces in this masterpiece of a concert do just that! I would like to suggest to you a couple of songs from a concert. It is more than a concert though, it is called, A Christmas Carol, The Concert. I would like for you to listen to , I will get back to you with the details soon. Lots of love , peace and happiness too. x ( hey , love , peace and happiness, a song , by THE CHAMBERS BROTHERS, are you hep to the Chambers Brothers, or to that song? Give it a listen, my man, ❤️☮️😊
