So evolved humans is a great idea and I’m sure they mean well with it and are in fact better than we are currently. When your back is up against the wall however , we will choose the feelings for survival over proving how good we are. Fear, regression and violence , if you think survival is at stake does it matter if you’re good or bad at the end of the day ? For humans I don’t think it does. War doesn’t show who’s right it merely shows who’s left.

Perhaps the Dominion was able to develop cloaks that worked near the wormhole due to demand. There are two parties with significant numbers of cloaked vessels: the Romulans and Klingons. Both parties would have been more concerned with improving cloaks to evade detection within normal operation. * The Romulans would want to avoid Starfleet detection, so that would have been the primary concern; rather than developing cloaks that required additional hardware to work in a single spot smaller than the Vatican, since the wormhole is the only known one of its type. We know they were focused on avoiding Starfleet detection, because we saw in Nemesis that such cloaks had been developed. * As part of Bajor's affiliation with the Federation and the Federation/Klingon alliance, the Klingons and Bajorans were defacto allies; so the Klingons would have no need to cloak near the wormhole, so such an ability would be useless to the Klingons. Neither power had large incentive to figure out how to cloak within the wormhole. But for the Dominion, the wormhole was a strategic chokepoint that would make or break their plans, so such technology would be extremely valuable.

@Phoenixesper15 жыл бұрын
Actually the confrence being attacked was he perfect place to strike. First off killing the president or attacking starfleet head quarters would have done the exact opposite the dominion wanted, and that is galvanizing the federation into open war against the dominion and it VERY likely would have also brought gowron to his senses, that if the dominion were willing to do something that even the klingons dared not do in war, then it might be better to reactivate the kitamoer accords, and this might have made gowron so paranoid that the martok changling may have been exposed. On top of that remember the romulans were only treated with the dominion because they really had not done anything to warrant fear in the empire elites... killing the president of the federation again would have sent the message that they TOO were not safe. regardless of being enemies, all 3 powers did respect the concept of the unspoken rule.... you don't kill the heads of state in that fashion. With that all said the confrence sent the message of fear to the federation AND it also pissed of the romulans that star fleets security was so weak and feeble that they could not be trusted to ensure their own let alone romulan interests, and so the romulans recoiled back into themselves. The dominions sole intent wasn't destroying the federation.... it was making them destroy themselves.... and really... they did suceed when you think about it.

Forty ships. Really? And the Mars Defense Line... Three armed drones. Yeah, Starfleet is _not_ a big flotilla.

@@tba113 From what I understand they have ships numbering in the thousands. In the 23rd century alone they had at least 7000 active Starfleet vessels. If your correct that the federation had 7,000 active starfleet vessels (and believe me that ain't shit compared to the amount of territory just in the federation borders with stars and star systems numbering in the tens of millions), many of those ships where other type of ships and not Galaxy glass or Defiant or other ships with phasers and such. Two, the reason why their may have not been a federation fleet at the seat of the federation is one quite obvious. Other members of the federations (which number over 400 member civilizations) would question why are the other civilizations and members supporting a fleet to protect Human homeworld which happens to have the federation seat on it and leave the other 400 not having the same protection? Lets be honest, besides the few colonies that humans from earth sent out pre-federation. The rest of the federation or 99 percent of them are alien. To be frank those starships that we like to see should have so many aliens on board that it would be rare to see a human manning a station on those ships much less being a captain. So I think there was alot of deals that where done that weren't federation like if you know what I mean. Like the other members demanded that the federation ships would be out from earth to defend and also aid other members. This would placate the other member leaving the federation seeing that the humans are getting the better end of the deal. Two and this is racists, they probably agreed that humans would be the majority on the crews of these ships. They never go into why this and what I said before isn't so.

I have a theory that humans in Star Trek _subconciously keep aliens around_ them to *force themselves to live up to the standards* they have set. We see humans generally only go bad (or typical human) when they are in a monospecies group, the best example of which is the Equinox (what if they had had the equivalent of T'pol and Phlox aboard, would they have still done the experiments?) Perhaps there is a subconscious communication or reinforcement system where humans will sink to the lowest common denominator in a human only group, because of behavioral signals. But when aliens are in the group they don't get sucked into the human group think and humans _instinctively don't want to let the side down_ in front of a non human. And instead try to rise to the standards preached. Like the difference between _the Lads_ and a mixed gender group. It does seem that every Starfleet ship, even the first Enterprise, goes out of it's way to have at least a token alien presence, perhaps there were alien crew amongst the Equinox and they were killed in action which allowed the remaining humans to degrade and "regress". The same idea sort of goes for the siege of AR-558. In such a situation if there were aliens present long term, not visiting and stuck, would there be any behavioral differences? And if not would the aliens get nervous about their human compatriots attitudes. Imagine a Klingon warrior going on about the glory of battle only to be met by thousand yard stares and humans casually sitting around watching wounded enemies slowly bleed out and die while they ate and talked. Then desecrating bodies with the encouragement of the group. And it even goes on in the Kelvin timeline with the events of Star Trek: Beyond. Although the rogue MACO crew occurred before the timeline split, so there are still out there but apparently never caused a problem in the prime timeline. Humans *act enlightened* out of shame for who they really are deep down inside.

So many defeatist rhetoric here in the comments. I enjoy your opposing view on this Lore, and I think people are a misunderstanding. Humans are more evolved they think before act best they can. But they still flawed and not a "mary sue" organization. I think humans have nature but as sentient beings, we can choose not to do it. Having said that, I felt they still did a better job beyond narrative things. Also, I did say watching DS9 they can learn a little bit about war. The thing about star trek it is very eurocentric. So to me trek suffers from cultural hegemony the lack of different countries. We are united and dont in fight as much as we used to. But I Think we would be more prepared regardless. I think the sociology of this is important to note when we say more evolved too. The humans in trek are more an ideal, I Think we should be more rational and less tribal the best we can. However, we also have to make sure we do not grow complacent or worse blind. This is why DS9 was so good to me, it really shined a light that these were humans that came from US but they are still better than WE are, just they are still humans.
