I'm going to try this but you might consider putting the adaptor away from the potential moisture (very near to the washing machine drain - on a hot water cycle some steam can come out of the machine pipe entering the drain on the wall) or even from the room itself ends up with humidity when lots of laundry is done. Lorex has significantly gone down in quality. I've just replaced the hard drive with a more reliable WD purple hard drive because the seagate ones they use are garbage - that gave out during city power outages in the last few weeks where it was going on and off unexpectedlya few times a week. My unit is about four years old I paid for the extra five year warranty and one of the cameras went 18 months after I bought it, I sent the footage, sent the warranty and purchase information and was willing to send them the camera but Lorex stopped responding once they confirmed everything is valid. Three emails on the warranty with no response. After trying to reset my password today online, one I submitted the form after their business hours and it immediately opened and closed the reset password request.

Thanks for the tip! Yes, nowadays electronics have gone done in quality as companies try to cut costs. This unit is about 10 years old. I’ve replaced the HDD with an SSD. Significantly improved playback performance.

@@jonastriesanything Yes, thanks for the reply, only to find out that the strip it was in was not working but still going to make sure of all the other plugs I tried you trick though, only to discover no light on that main snake plug (rectangle box that you speak of and point to in your presentation.

@@jonastriesanything Our cameras are back up and running, Thanks once again for this clear and precise demonstration. t was the 12v power supply that feeds the octopus wires.

Hi I'm having the same issue, does that power supply plug into the DVR?
@jonastriesanything3 ай бұрын
There are two power supplies. One for the DVR and the other for the camera wires (octopus connector). This one is for the camera wire.

Hi having the same issue again do you recommend the 24v oppose to the 12v it comes with?

I have the same problem. But i wondered in the beginning of this video you measured the old PS is 12v, but in the end of video the voltage of the new PS is 24V ???Please help. Thanks. I measured my PS is 11.96V so i think my PS is working fine.
@jonastriesanything Жыл бұрын
Yes, 11.96 V is basically 12V. The power supply I used in testing was 24V. That’s why it showed 24V. In my case, 24V was ok to use since I have 8 cameras with extended wires. Needed more power to maintain all of them.

hi! I had same issue. I have ordered the new power code. and tried.. but still black screen...... what should I do?
@jonastriesanything6 ай бұрын
If you connect a monitor to the DVR, do you see a black screen? If the voltage is good for each line, then check if there are any errors relating disk drive or other parts.

So, I’m having same issue. My Current power supply is 12 v. To both unit and cameras. Was yours 12v originally.?
@jonastriesanything9 ай бұрын
The original was 12v. I ended up just using the 24v power supply and that seemed to fix the issue.

So im wondering if this is the same reason my outside cameras act funny at night and go all fuzzy then go clear and then just record in black and white instead of colour.
@jonastriesanything Жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly the same symptom that I had. Camera goes blurry, then black after. Caused by faulty power supply not supplying the right amount of power.
@carlosribeiro3821 Жыл бұрын
@jonastriesanything that's so weird cause I had these cams up for over a year and just last few months they act up.
@Dancerboxer Жыл бұрын
Same thing happened to me. Had this system over a year and all in a sudden… screens are black
@carlosribeiro3821 Жыл бұрын
@@Dancerboxer might aren't black, I have 2 of them get pixelated at night. And then one of them just stays back and white outside and the rest are colour.

Where do you buy a new power supply from?

Amazon. Just search for security camera power supply.
