Hi Lori your videos have really helped me. 3 months ago, I was assessed by a PRI PT who told me to just work the 90/90 hip shift for a left aic/right bc pattern. Just this week, I tried some PEC techniques and woah, that was the key. Current situation: PEC practices feel very easy and I’m sliding back into neutral pelvis. I am then quite easily able to shift onto my left, presumably because I treated the left AIC for months already. I understand that PEC should be treated before left AIC, but based on what I’m feeling, my question is: Although atypical, is it possible that the work I’ve already done on left AIC/right bc worked, even though I did it in reverse order? Because that’s what my experience feels like (it was always super awkward doing left AIC stuff before trying pec, and now I know why). Hope this makes sense. Thank you!

We would say that underlying every PEC is a L AIC/BC pattern. So often the PEC treatment is done first then the L AIC/R BC stuff. If you tested as a L AIC/R BC that is where you should have started, however as you "correct" that shift or right/left imbalance, if you do not understand how to properly inhibit your back you can fall more into a PEC pattern after repositioning for a L AIC. In that case (like yours) transitioning to "PEC" inhibition exercises would make sense and should be very beneficial. Thanks for the comment!

Hi I wanted to ask, how can I tell by myself what position I'm stuck in? I'm unsure whether I'm stuck in the left aic or pec pattern, So I don't know which exercies to start with. I'm aware there are assessment tests to figure this out but another pri specialist on youtube by the name of Neal Hallinan says that it is extremely difficult and pretty much impossible to self-assess yourself, so how do I figure out which pattern I am stuck in? Are there any telltale signs that indicate which pattern I'm stuck in?

You are correct in that we would look at some specific objective tests to know for sure what pattern you are in to be able to fine tune which techniques would be the best for you. The good news is that there are really 2 general categories the L AIC and the PEC. The PEC pattern is usually a compensation for a L AIC pattern, so you can actually be helped starting with activities from either one. If one pattern makes more sense to you as far as how you feel I'd start there. If you aren't feeling like you are making progress having someone help would be ideal!

@@HruskaClinic May I ask one more question? To my knowledge people in the left aic pattern generally have a more pronated left foot while having a more supinated right foot, so what would be the general foot position of someone in a pec pattern?
@HruskaClinic
@HruskaClinic Жыл бұрын
@@weaver1507 You are correct that in general we see that pattern, but that foot "position" is a result of the pattern not the cause of the pattern. There can be many different foot positions for people in a LAIC pattern. Similarly there can be in a PEC pattern as well. There are a lotof PEC people who have that same foot pattern, but the "typical" PEC pattern would be a foot that is significantly pronated (and toed out) on BOTH sides... or signficantly supinated (high arch) on both sides.

Over-time if you stay stuck in this pattern you certainly can "overstretch" things that shouldn't be overstretched. WE call this a pathological pattern and we end up with different issues. Great question.

Thanks for info but there is already people describing this and not enough showing treatment exercises. I’ve only seen a few exercises demonstrated. Please put out a video of all the techniques used to treat this PEC pattern with Left AIC compensations. It would be greatly appreciated and I could direct people here who suffer from this as well as pelvic floor dysfunction. Please consider it you would be helping alot of people myself included. 🙏

Thanks for the comment. It is hard to put out "all" the exercises as there are so many. If you understand the pattern, why the pattern is there, and what it entails there are lots of ways to treat it. We do have it planned to do more information on the ways to reposition and retrain once you understand the patterns. Stay tuned!!

@valo9678
@valo9678 2 ай бұрын
@@user-dg6zy3fs6c have not solved yet don’t believe it’s left Aic pattern anymore. I have a wide isa with primary and secondary compensations. So my rib cage is compressed from front to back which makes my diaphragm not function properly due to poor breathing. Also my hips lack internal rotation so this compresses the back of the pelvis/pelvic floor. So a lot of hip shifts and side lying breathing exercises as well as hip hinges will restore me to normal. These both combine to make a tight pelvic floor so you can’t get a proper reverse kegel when you inhale.
