Backing tracks or not they have a very interesting way of mixing genres. II is an amazing drummer to start, does more than just straight double bass riffs. IDK, a lot of metal is blown out growling with zero dynamics. It"s all just a blur of sound and it causes major ear fatigue. Sleep Token has some cool jazz and soul elements mixed in that you just don't see now. I want to hear the lyrics, and you can't do that with a lot of metal. I do get that they have some slower Hozier type stuff thats hard to relate to for metal fans, and the backing tracks thing isn't ideal, but they still get some points for style and creativity. There are way worse mainstage cookie cutter acts right now than Sleep Token...

I'm 90% certain I know the drummer of Sleep Token as I swear he used to drum for a deathcore band called Belial, who hailed from my hometown of Swindon. Also the same town where Ryan of Soil currently resides. I am in agreement. They're not for me. They've got their audience, and that's great, but it's not me.
