Just an FYI. If you want to you can also use plastic wrap instead if water soluble stabilizer and or freezer paper instead of tear away for practice embroidery. This saves you on using up your good stabilizers
@nanping54283 жыл бұрын
does it work as good tho?
@BankruptMonkey8 ай бұрын
Both can gum up your machine over time though, it will make your machine need servicing much more often. If you don't want to use stabilizer, a rag in a similar material with the same laundering needs works for back stabilizer.

Hi, just saw this video. I have been sewing for more years than I care to mention. I’m a new grandma and I want to learn to do embroidery. Finally! A proper tutorial. I’m such a novice the only thing I can say this video is missing is how to setup the string. I don’t know where to put it or how to route it. Great tutorial! Like you said, I never saw one this thorough, and they all assumed people knew a lot of the basics.
@traceybartlam77375 ай бұрын
It’s thread not string! She explained at the beginning about not showing things that were individual to machines because they vary. Your machine will maybe have numbers (most do) so just follow them but it’ll be in the instructions clearly showing that. If you’ve lost them you should be able to find online somewhere

This is the best tutorial on basic machine embroidery that I have seen- and I have watched many. Ones that rushed through the description making it very difficult to follow and understand despite pausing and playing - and those that went too slow for me providing, what I thought, was unnecessary information and detail; because I presume, maybe wrongly, that if you are at a sewing level to consider machine embroidery there are details that can be skipped or at least skipped over. I also found the best machine, for me, to purchase through this tutorial. Excellent and thank you.

Your 500e came with software you can combine patterns. Load it onto a computer, once. Put the pattern(s) you want into the program then move to your machine. My MC9500 & MC9700 (both are combo machines) allow me to combine patterns right on the machine itself. But with the 500e, if I wish to add text or another pattern, I do the manipulation on my computer using the software supplied by Janome for my machine, write to the memory stick and stitch away. This was a great video. I love my 500e. I frequently use a larger "frame" (HOOP) and fill it up. Lately its Free Standing Lace and using the software that came with the 500e, I can layout with 6 flags, or 12 earrings in one hooping. BTW, I LOVED 505. Yet, I no longer use 505. After trying the basting spray that comes in a purple aerosol can that is water clean up. Why? I found is easier to clean up than 505. And no staining. My MC9500 was the latest model when I started doing machine embroidery.. I have been doing this for over a decade. Again, great video!

If you gonna stitch in the middle you dont have to mark anything just put your design in the middle and the machine knows what hoop it in and go straight to the centre, that at least the case of my brother, one other trick you can put light tape that is made of paper over your fabric and put your points znd lignes adjust the machine remove the tape and thats it thanx for the video a big like

Thanks so much for a very comprehensive tutorial on how to begin machine embroidery. I bought my machine a little over 18 months ago, and the learning curve has been pretty steep. Although I did get 2 lessons on how to use the machine, which was extremely helpful, it was not as organized as your video. I still have trouble hooping baby shirts, onesies, towels so usually for these items I float them. I plan on using tear away stabilizer on the next towel I make as you advised. I just finished a towel with appliqué and embroidery, and the design is very stiff, even though I used a soft cut away. I wanted to use the towel for drying hands, but it is so stiff, it will have to be decorative only. I bought Embrilliance Essentials to use, and it has been great. It is doing everything I need it to do right now. As you know, you can add on the other parts if you want to do more complicated things. The price was affordable, and there are many online tutorials to explain how to use it. I still have problems getting my designs from Embrilliance to my machine, using a flash drive. I have gone through two flash drives already, and am having problems with the third one. I don’t know what I am doing to cause the drives to stop working. If you have any advice, please let me know. Again, thanks so much for such a great video. BTW, I bought a Baby Lock Spirit. It is an embroidery only machine. It has been fabulous and comes with a very comprehensive, easy to read and understand manual. I may have to get a different machine, as the largest size hoop is 7 x 12. But it meets my needs now,,and the cost was affordable.

I created cross hair designs and maximum hoop outlines for all my hoops. I stitch these out on the stabiliser without thread in the needle when floating fabric in the hoop. This gives you the centre point and ‘ grain lines’ to help you line up the fabric. Agree on hoop sizes, not sure I want the maximum hoop sizes that are 14” square as if the hoop gets too large it is hard to keep the fabric taught, which affects design registration. If the machine has the hoop size you want there is no need to go for all the bells and whistles, spend the extra money on software. Most software exports designs for most machines, so you do not have to buy software from the same company. If you want to create designs from scratch make sure it can use vector (svg) files, and will digitise at actual size and does not automatically shrink it to fit a hoop.
