Los Angeles Raiders vs New York Giants 1989 2nd Half Week 16

Tough holding call takes away a 1st down, for the Raiders deep in their own territory. This would be the turning point of the 2nd half, as the Giants take advantage. Their offensive line proved to be too much for the Raiders to deal with.

I remember as a kid in the late 80s and early '90s a lot of people in Northern CA were talking about Raiders in the SB and the A's in the WS.

I was at this game, played on Xmas eve. I remember how cold it was. Bitter cold. I remember my buddy who was a huge Giants fan, going nuts on Megget's punt return, he put his foot on the seat in front of him and part of the back of the seat snapped off. It was that cold.We had gone to the Jets/Bills game a day earlier. Think we paid maybe $10 for really good seats. Only thing I remember about that game was it was a blowout, what there was of a crowd chanting "Joe must go!" the whole game and someone bringing in a blowup doll and people batting it around like a balloon. Took security a while to confiscate it... lol

The Raiders actually got the help they needed.... to think all they had to do was beat SEA or SD and they wouldn’t have had to put themselves into having to win against this Giant team in the ice cold

Al Davis inability to properly draft ... starting with Marc Wilson, Steve Beurlien, and Todd Marinovich... always did us in .... too many stack teams to never get to a SB in the 90s ...
