Newbie here, question please, after you change the squish according to the spec, doesn't the nicasyl plating goes off and affect the heat of the engine?
@makeorbreak27983 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, setting the squish doesn’t effect the chrome plating at all, however on a well used engine if using thinner base gaskets to tighten the squish clearance isn’t ideal being that the ring forms a ridge in the plating at the top of stroke. Hope that helps 👍

This is a great video but this is far from the most powerful 30.5cc engine. You will have some blow back issues with out a reed valve. Piston reeds are usually on average better then case reeds however the 5th port is the key. Crankcase boost port should be milled out and bearing lube modifications and case stuffing should be done. I didnt notice if you port matched or not but if you didnt then that would have needed to be done aswell. Your dome is too small now it needs to be ball honed a bit as your compression will actually fight your RPM. Also your piston would have needed windowing and your bottom sleeve on the exhaust side needed shaving on the sides to reduce friction. HOWEVER this is a very good attempt at porting.
@WikWak3 жыл бұрын
What makes you say piston reeds are better than case reeds? Im currently making some cylinder reeds, about twice as big as the cylinder reed kit you can buy.
@TrooperManaic3 жыл бұрын
@@WikWak That would be good however you have to consider crankcase volume. "Charged air" Which is the term for air fuel mixture that is sent to the cylinder is lessened by case reeds this is because of its path of travel which is why case reeds suffer from blowback issues more often then cylinder reeds do. There is much less of a path for some of the charged air to make it into the Cylinder getting rid of more of the "10% spent air" which is the term for whats left into the cylinder after its charged "usually its 10%"IF there is a large enough 5th port and boost port. you COULD do a 6th port but I personally like larger 5th ports because you get more torque. On average you will get more torque out of a piston ported reed then a crankcase reed. you can contact this guy he has more knowledge in piston ported reeds then I do kzbin.info/door/_x31PaM77EtK6osT5b3Qqw
@WikWak3 жыл бұрын
@@TrooperManaic it ran terrible lol. Tuning was just all over the place, the exhaust port does get uncovered at tdc, but it wasnt really a problem with piston port, so idk what the issue is. Id say crankcase volume is still good, its got a stuffed crank and i designed it to have minimal extra space
@makeorbreak27983 жыл бұрын
Hey mate thank you, this is a piston port not a reed valve intake i prefer pp’s over a reed engine in a losi 5ive t reason being is i have designed an air filter which only fits on the piston port engines due to carb sitting closer to the motor than a reed setup. And your spot on 👍 compression is too high but i want to test it first so we can see the gains (max rpm) after cutting the combustion chamber, cylinder is matched to the case this was important as the transfer as wide as they can be 👍
