One of the most important things is making sure your threads are clean for the grub screw. Always make sure you thread your grub in and out while the pin is out to make sure that the grub screw goes all the way in without resistance. What happens if you don't do this is you reach a point where you think you've tightened the grub, but you're actually resisting against the buildup on the threads. You will forever have CVDs that fall apart, or pinions that fly off if you do not do this.

Hey what's up man! Congrats getting your buggy. The CV axles are identical so this process will be the same for your gas buggy. With a few upgrades and mods the gas dbxl can be a ton of reliable fun. I have a bunch of gas rigs too. Oddly this dbxl-e was my first electric 5th scale. Bought it brand new four years ago or so. Hope you enjoy your buggy as much as I have over the years. I just did your mod but I used fiber cloth tape that is really strong, doesn’t stretch and stick quite well. I also added red loctite on the grubscrew. Back in the day I had an rc8t with a tekno rc convertion and a castle 1520 motor on 6S. My center driveshaft was loosing the pin and did that and it was bullet proof after that.

You nailed it brother. That cloth tape. Or hockey stick tape as I call it works very good. I ran out and sufficed with black 3M electrical tape. Both work. @@justiceonly9105 the dogbones? Going from diff to wheel are popping out of place? Interesting. I have never had that problem. Maybe set your droop screws in the lower arms? The arms could be traveling too far allowing them to pop. Typically to set rhe droop. I will put the buggy on a stand and disconnect the shock from the upper mount. Then turn the droop screw in the lower arm till the shock will slide right on the mount. Then give the droop screw a turn more for flex.

What's up David! I have been an auto technician for nearly 30 years now. I have a habit of checking the cv axles in these frequently. When I saw it last Saturday. I was at a meet up with friends. I looked at the axle and saw the pin starting to poke out of the cup. I got a little pocket screwdriver and was able to move the pin so I knew it was coming loose. You obviously have to pull the boot back. Sometimes a flashlight is needed to see it. But it has been an issue with the 2.0 and people unknowingly keep driving it half way out and boom it snaps either the cup or axle itself. Hope this makes sense lol. I know this is late but, after watching this video and having multiple cv axles break because of that stupid pin, It has dawned on me to drill and tap the ends of the pin and put a screw on each end. Of course the heads of the screws need to be thin enough not to rub and wide enough to overlap the pins so they can't slide out. I have new cv's on order and will try that.
@SteelCityRC
