Losi LST Teardown

Bought this Losi LST and it does need a restoration. I expected this to run but seals in carburetor and idle screw are junk. Will make another part when I get parts and get to finally drive it.

I’ve had dead glow igniters before. I was desperate to run so I used a AA Battery. Put the positive side of the battery directly on the glow plug, then hold a wire on the negative side of the battery to ground.

Looking at how little resistance there was a top dead center with the button off I get the feeling that engine is worn out. That's probably why you're not able to get it running right. Different engines will have different amounts of pinch after break in though so that may not be the problem. Just thought I'd point it out as something to think about. Looking forward to seeing The next video on this :-)

Any idea where I could find transmission parts for mine. I just ought one and it also needs a restoration. And it’s missing all the spur gear components and I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find anything but replacement spur gears

Only way to find New old stock or used parts for the LST is on eBay. You may need to search through lots of parts or something strip from chassis as they are out there but usually not specifically for sale. Only problem with eBay is that parts are usually expensive and you are forced to buy entire lot of parts for one part. If you haven’t also try referring to parts list for numbers in your manual which might help on internet search. Good luck as I say the LST is the best rc monster truck around.

Haywire, that exhaust protection, is it bolt on to chassis or part of chassis? I want on on mine

It’s a skid plate losi makes where the skit plate extends to cover exhaust and also the gears on other side of chassis. It bolts directly where original skid plate goes.

You clearly don’t know how old that truck is….. meaning the engine is the same age….. no compression in that cylinder.

I’ve learned a lot from now and the engine did have compression but was very low and my tuning was completely wrong though I though I was right. Now I was able to get it running pretty good and put the truck on 30% nitro to try to maximize power to compensate low compression. Runs good but now making new video right now on engine swap.
