Very touching story. Im hoh since birth and because my hearing loss is moderate im not a candidate for cochlear implant, but im still curious about all kinds of hearing device because after years of denial i finally get involved in this amazing deaf community. And i feel so happy when i hear story like this.

Hi David, I have a cochlear implants. I was born with cytomegalovirus (CMV). I went be deaf at 6 months old and I had wear hearing aids at 8 until I got my first cochlear implant on left ear at 23 in November 23, 2010 until I got second cochlear implant on right ear on November 30, 2017. I love it to hearing with cochlear implants.

I was born in '94. I was exposed to CMV when my mom carried me. I lost my hearing when I was 8 in my right ear gradually and left ear age 12 gradually. Worn hearing aids until I was implanted at age 17 in December 2011 and was activated January 2012.

Hi Faith, That is so awesome! For the longest time, I thought I was only one that had CMV and wears cochlear implants. When I was about 13 years old, that all changed for me and I realized that I was not alone. You should submit your story to deafteens.org: deafteens.org/story/

Thank you David for the link. I just now submitted my story to them. I know of one other person I went to school with who was born with CMV and is deaf with a cochlear implant also. Hearing loss from CMV is common according to my specialists at Toledo Hospital and University of Michigan Hospital.

Hey I respect people with hearing loss and I wish that people would not discriminate against deaf and hard of hearing like me with hearing aids they go behind my ear and they have Bluetooth wich is nice like when you can listen to music and my mom says I can be the brige between the hearing and the deaf all I gotta do is learn asl
