It’s probably because Rhett and Link have practice to have a more centralized accent for all of the different shows that they have done. Also I imagine Rhett and Link have had more experience with people outside of North Carolina because of their line of business long before Chrissy and Jesse moved with them to Cali.

@@kroneexe don't let other people make you feel inadequate, man, if you put in an honest effort and communicate with your partner, don't worry about difference in experience. I think most people got you wrong because of "that's how it usually is", because in my personal experience it's quite the opposite, meaning women felt much more then I did. But if you meant " There's usually a difference in experience" , not "guys have more fun than women", then I agree with you. To others I want to say, that people sometimes have issues that cannot be overcome with effort. My girlfriend can't do anything about my depression, and she shouldn't feel that she doesn't put in enough effort.

We started teaching our sons about money (how to earn it, how to save it, how to invest it, and how to borrow) when they were around 10. They are 13 and 15 now and have their own credit cards - they each have a single credit card, that is. They are earning credit steadily while learning how to handle money. We want them to have credit when they go to college and beyond, and if we don't teach them about money now, they'll be like fawns learning to walk on a highway. We all need to remember we're raising adults.

One of the unintended results of raising kids in the purity culture: When you spell out what's right and wrong, and young minds discover that what's "wrong" brings pleasure, it can subconsciously spill over to other areas of life. Shoplifting is wrong, recreational drug use is wrong, adultery and lying are wrong. In times of depression or confusion, there's a tendency to self soothe with what brings pleasure. Yielding to that self medicating brings a sense of guilt. It can easily turn into a downward spiral and parents are at a loss to understand where all that is coming from.

My husband's contribution to the wedding planning consisted of, "whatever you like, dear". I wondered if he was even listening, so one time I slipped in, "...and I'd like you to be naked". Instant response: "Nobody needs to see that, dear", so I guess he was at least sorta listening.

this is so valuable to hear. Christy talking about the pressure from purity culture to cover yourself to “protect” the men is exactly what I was taught, being raised evangelical. that mindset leads directly to the common belief that when women are assaulted, it’s because of what they were wearing, or otherwise that they were responsible. such dangerous ideas to feed to children. Jessie talking about having a 'harm reduction model' and knowing/acknowledging that she would do harm really struck me and made me cry because it's such a reflective way of being a parent (that I never have had in a true or consistent way w/ my parents). It seems like it would require open communication, flexibility, willing to admit to mistakes, etc. that goes into the hard work of trying to be self aware, and I imagine that would be so empowering for her kids. Beautiful. ; u ;

The trauma for men and women individually follows the pattern of how men and women are treated in society and while I understand the pressure and anticipation for the guys, I have major empathy for the DEEPLY personal twisted mess of religious patriarchy and misogyny that clearly still sticks with them today even being in these healthy, communicative relationships ❤️

As a women who grew up in that purity culture I appreciate Jessie and Cristy speaking from their perspective even though it was something they kind of wanted to keep private. It’s so true that growing up in the church you’re told as a woman and even a little girl that what you have on and what you do can make a man “sin” or stumble and it’s your fault if they have impure thoughts. I grew up with a lot of guilt and thankfully have worked through a lot of that over the years. I appreciate yall talking about your evangelical years and how you moving away from it.
