“The bow thruster is not as powerful as I would like…” then Jade slides into view from below, you can’t make this up, such timing.

Limestone is composed primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and is white in color. As the river breaks down this rock into tiny crystals, these crystals will get mixed up into the water. When sunlight hits the tiny crystals, it will reflect that beautiful blue color.

Many instrument manufacturers (e.g. Raymarine, B&G) use the exact same sensors for depth, speed, wind which are made by Airmar, so probably a calibration issue or setting as Brett noted!!!

There are lakes in British Canada with similar colors. It is due to the glacial flour from the retreat of glaciers and usually contains granite and some sandstone.

The blue is fine silt and clay called rock flour, (or glacial flour) Ground up by glaciers so fine that it remains suspended in the water. edit to also add that it's also to do with the way light waves are absorbed and reflected by this flour. Rock flour will absorb the long and some of the shortest light waves reds oranges yellow and then purples and indigos respectively What's left to reflect is green and blue and boom you get your turquoise water edit 2 to further add that the lower down a mountain a lake forms, the more likely it will have come into contact (run off) from farms and vegetation which wash nitrogen and phosphorus into the water and promote algae growth and green becomes the dominant colour.

Ok, YOU HAVE GOT to take her to Peille (or, if you like toursty Eze). You are 22 Km from Peille (no tourists). It will blow your mind. And when you go TO Monaco you have to take the Tun de Monaco. It is like an amusement park ride, but free. You can thank me later. Dissolved limestone is in the water.

La Roya is the river, the color is from the concentration of limestone coming from the "gypse" (in French, I don't know the english term) wich is limestone really crumbly, like chalk.

Jade, you better start eating that olive oil with everything. I got a jug of olive oil like that as a present from someone visiting Europe. I could not finish it before it went rancid.

Rock flour gives water that colour. Pretty much any kind of rock that has been ground fine by glacier action gives this colour to the water.

Ref wind compare to a neighbour , if different try shutting down power to all instruments via the main house breaker.
@paulcollins49323 сағат бұрын
Get yourself a handheld wind gauge and then compare i, i find the raymarine was always quick to react to stronger winds unlike the B & G which is more of an average
