Warm days contractors commonly spray water onto concrete or dry-shake hardener surface during finishing (sometimes called "blessing the slab") to draw up the "cream" that helps close up the surface and create a smooth finish. They may also use water a lot when they are otherwise “losing the slab”, because the surface is drying too quickly. However, adding water changes the w/c ratio on top of the surface and weakens it, causing dusting, increasing the potential of delamination and plastic shrinkage.
Instead of using water, you should use Nano silica finishing aid which lubricate surface better, make it denser, more durable, minimize delamination and plastic shrinkage.
