I love my deathblade but reaper is more of what I wanted in an assassin type advanced class. Stealth, high burst. Dipping in and out of shadows. Beautiful. Most excited for reaper, lancemaster, and scout. Already got the base class prepared for each one of them they all look great.

There are some cool classes, but....for me I'm just sad that I seem to be one of the only people excited for Scout. Though there were some other cool ones, the others just don't have that same kind of raw appeal, not to mention not many games like this where you can use Guns, and this just kicks it up to the next level!

The current in-development gender unlock class is female Berserker. That being said, there are a lot of rumors going around that the next gender unlock class will most likely be male mage, since it is the only class of the "starting 4" without a confirmed gender unlock class yet (The starting classes were warrior, mage, martial artist and gunner. Assassin class was added a few months after the initial release)

maybe that charicters have structural problems makes low DPS(lance master's one engraving has top dps, but another engraving cannot be selected). In Korea, balance patch is coming on march or on april. I think that characters(not relesed characters) will be patched.

This was one of my few frustrations with the NA/EU release, most of the classes that I really wanted were NOT in it :D Destroyer, Lancemaster, Specialist, Reaper...those were pretty much the ones I had interest in outside of the Sorc. And of course they weren't in release. Hope they come here soon! Not sure why they held back on a bunch of classes but gave us up to tier 3 content. I guess it was pick your poison, which one do we put off. Well, with the huge NA/EU success, they certainly have the resources now to pump these classes into the game!

I’ve been loving lost ark so far, but my only major problem with the game is that I think adding gender locked classes limits player customization so much.(praying for the day that gunslinger isn’t gender locked even though deadeye is a thing)

1 gender = animation only for 1 gender, outfit for only 1 gender, etc. gender lock classes is done to lower the production cost. there won't be male Gunslinger cause there's Deadeye. the classes for opposite gender like Gunslinger and Deadeye will not be 100% identical. that's why it takes so long to release 1class of opposite gender. aside from new animation, etc, they also have to figure out how to make the class be a bit different.

@@SapiaNt0mata there would be no reason to create a male gunslinger because, as you said, deadeye exists already. those two are functionally the same class, with one male and the other female. what we want is more pairings like that, ie. male mage/assassin counterparts to the existing female classes or female warrior classes (like what they've teased with a female berserker) black desert has this where most of the classes are gender locked but some classes have a gendered counterpart that have different skills/theming but are functionally the same class for me, idc if the male mage class is a carbon copy of the existing mage classes, i just wanna play a mlae mage

After playing one in D&D this has become my new favourite thing and every new game that comes out I'm always asking "Is there a Druid, and if not what is the closest thing and how can I reskin/build it to be like one?" The Summoner seems a good fit with the animal-based spells, but then it has these weird random attacks like summoning a giant knight and it kind of breaks the theme. 😐 For now, I guess we just have to be happy with Sorceress with its elemental-based magic.

I feel like gender and class locking are a major content block in this game, the biggest thing in FFXIV is how you can stop being a class if it is not the most meta or has become boring. The replay value is bigger when I know I can just switch to a berserker if I'm not enjoying destroyer. And you can also see this problem right away because once the artist comes out bard is gonna be on a even bigger rough spot than she already is....Well hope we get a necromancer.

According to the interview, it is more likely every 2~3months. The reason they are spacing them out like that is because new class release also includes some kind of event that throws a lot of free items at players, and some of them(but not all) even give away power pass(Those were called jump ticket in KR) so people don't have to grind the initial story again. Smilegate wants to bring NA/EU players up to speed fast, so they would be doing a lot of these events to provided players stuff they can use to progress fast while being careful about not getting them burnt out from too much updates.

As for holding events, that is how this game was run in other regions. So I'd assume it would be similar in NA/EU as well. As you could verify from what the director said in the interview, he wants to bring up NA/EU players "up to speed" quickly, but he doesn't want them to burn out from too much contents. (which has happened in KR region.) So my guess is the game will be throwing a lot of free stuff (especially upgrade mats) to speed up the progression of players for a while.

I'm decent at korean and from what I understood in the recent interview in korea is that the devs are working on female characters for older classes so releasing female berserker is at the lower end of their priority right now. Also the specialist class (the one that uses brush and umbrella) has been released in korea for some time now and they are really fun and the designs are quite nice. It's weird that Sorceress subclass came first in NA release instead of summoner cause the subclass itself was released last year I think. Additionally, Arcana subclass is definitely the go to for those that like high mobility. As for the Reaper class, it has an absurd dps with insane mobility but mostly within small aoe. Honestly my most favorite class for sure. Reapers practically offer nothing to the team aside from pure dps. In pvp, they got a skill with knockdown that deals about 1/3 of the enemy player's hp and you can just use your high damage rotation to just finish them off clean while they're still knocked down. Still, the casting animations are kinda long and predictable with small AoE so it's not that hard to counter them if you know what you're doing.

I'm kinda used to gender locked classes thanks to bdo i've played back in the days. But it's really hard for me to play female classes for some reasons. So i get it that is it a big deal in Korea, but why not "unlock" the Genders for western release? So many cool classes (as my favorite class in all mmos, assassin) but most of these are chicks. Would be half that awful if they wouldn't look like K-Pop Girls face wise and outfit wise. At least the Scouter is male so i can play him one day. It's a banger Iron man-ish class!

Interestingly enough, you can see a Lance Master in the game already. She's in the advanced class preview in character creation for the Bard, I think. (or maybe it was the Gunlancer...) Same for the Summoner. The mage's little animation when you select her in character creation has her summoning a few elemental creatures. Hopefully, that just means they will be released in the near future.

@@AzureRoxe One of the many reasons why they don't add all the remaining classes at once is because "new class release" tends to coincide with events (usually last for several weeks) that gives player a lot of cool stuff as well as mats players need to progress faster. The game will try to bring NA/EU players up to speed fast, but it also doesn't want players to burn out from getting too much contents thrown at. I'd guess the initial goal for first half of this year will be introducing the first Legion Commander Raid. This is the content that caused player retention to jump from 40% to 80% in KR.

summoner was already in the game... replaced with sorceress for some unknown reason (sorceress was actually added in korea AFTER summoner) but they decided to launch with sorceress first for some reason and make us wait for summoner.

I've read that Smilegate tends to give out a free powerpass whenever a new class is added, assuming that's true I would assume the same would happen for NA/EU :]

No need to save your powerpass. You can do what's called Knowledge Transfer in your Stronghold. You pay 600 gold on a character you want to cap. It cooks for 8 hours then pops out of the oven as a fresh capped character.
