These are very fun episodes. It's cool to see what is basically a super charged Sealed Event as a Commander game! It's a great way to introduce a large amount of the set to viewers. I'm incredibly happy to see Jim playing The Grim Captain as a Rule 0 commander because I'm planning on building it as well! It's interesting to see him use a Jund identity. It makes sense given the color identities of the needed tribes and being limited to a set booster box. Edit: I did really like last time when we got to see the actual process of Olivia & Eili go through their sealed boxes. Getting their reactions to seeing cards for the first time was really cool!

DJ made a boo boo with Belligerent Yearling. Its not when it enters the battlefield its when another Dinosaur enters the battlefield like Eldrazi Mimic, it should have been 5 power not 9. I am not sure it would have mattered much.

Enjoyed the video. I love the concept of Sealed Commander as you get to see some cards that get extremely ignored in more hyper-developed metas. But you have to buy a $130 set booster box for each player. And the BOX EXPECTED VALUE of $71.00 just makes that unrealistic. :(

55:35 - I'm pretty sure everyone would just take 4 damage because when replacement effects stack, the person being affected gets to choose the order. The 2 damage would be doubled and then Ojer would see 4 damage and not change it. Although, the two replacement effects come from different controllers, so I don't know if that changes anything.

Rough this set only has 2 conditional board wipes. You are not really going to get punished for going wide. Was a great game really enjoy the idea of a set booster box sealed.

One of my many hobbies is looking up pirate lore and reading books and senior thesis on the topic i am looking forward to making a pirate deck as i have one for modern to play for fun as i don't play comp. Magic anymore due to time reasons but i will play once in a great while if i get a chance i call Barbosa's revenge after the name of the captain of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie but now looking forward to making one for commander when i get some time to brew using the new toys from this set

I would love to make every deck here except for Eilidh's. A major vampier deck dont really float my boat. I know Jim and Ovilia's have some bit theyre not the major focus. Isn't it a activated ability with a cost of exiling the required ingredients so to speak. Could you not stifle it ? Or any other counter activated ability spells

DJ had targeted removal. You can respond to the ability, but there's no point where targeted removal will stop the ability from resolving.

@@TheSpikeFeeders Sure that makes sense, I mean it'll exile and be a new object and removal would fizzle. Maybe I'm just mistaken but it sounded like it was stated to not be able to be responded to and wouldn't want to put tht energy out into casual pods as a new "morph" sorta thing.

@@zackwilcox3183 there was a bit of rules discussion that was cut where we repeated the oracle text to verify that the Throne is exiled as part of the cost rather than part of the resolution of the crafting ability. So there's actually no point at which the Throne can even be targeted with removal. I cast it and there's nothing to target, then it resolves and I get priority back, then I can activate it and it's in exile by the time DJ gets priority.

I'm pretty casual Ive played for awhile and can keep up with some higher level players but I don't fully understand the interaction. Just hypothetically if I were to cast stifle to the ability of something crafting would it then simply remain exiled sense it was part of the cost ? Or will it still come back because it exiled itself as a cost and isn't physically there to counter ? I know I keep jumping to stifle effects and that wasn't really in the equation in y'all's game, it's just the thing I can wrap my head around best when interacting with activated abilities.
