Lost Cove Creek Kayaking

Never stepped foot inside a kayak, but found your channel from the Linville Gorge backpacking video you did, so naturally I subbed. I've been all over the lost cove area backpacking and it was cool to see it from a kayakers point of view. Well done!

@@RiverKingsKayak need to get your son out there to do the LG grand loop. Pretty sure he'd like it. NE quadrant can be a little tricky to navigate, as many of the trails up there are none existent bushwhack trails through the rhodo vaguely marked with beams cans and some pink tape. For that reason I prefer early spring before the bloom. Just makes for easier hiking. Other than that, the rest of the hike is easy

Pete, what I do if you come to a big ole limbless tree (log) across the river and it's not high enough to go under, but the water is deep enough for a roll- we'll just flip over go under upside down and roll up the other side - very cool looking with a train of guys. Really wanted to see you hit the big slide. Nothing like pushing the sinking sun.

The correct answer is to walk around it. It can get really dangerous really quick. If you go back to see my West Fork Tuck video, I had to go under one in a really sketchy spot.... We wanted to hit Drag Strip so bad, but we didnt know if it was running so we didnt hike the boats up. After getting there and it was going, we were bummed as we did not have time to make it happen...We will be trying to make that run very soon.

Pete, is there a drysuit that you'd recommend that you have experience with?

I have used several over the years. Lately, I have used the NRS Crux as I was offered a pretty sweet deal on a new one. It is the best bang for the buck suit. Immersion Research may be my favorite. Kokatat of course, and Level Six...any name brand should be pretty solid

You could scrape down it with a little less water if you really wanted to...but seemed like a good min. 2.5 hours and we hiked up to drag strip.
