As a kid I never realised I was living through one of the most creative periods in entertainment. Lost in Space just knew how to tell a story tightly and those three main anchors - Smith, Will and the Robot provided so many possibilities for the writers. Brilliant. Batman was another.

Almost all of the shows had two or three songs, except for the Addams Family. I liked all three (Edit: Two themes, three openings.) on Lost in Space. 💙 T.E.N.

I was 5 or 6 and remember my older brothers watching it in the 60s, but I became a fan in the 70s when WTAE channel 4 in Pittsburgh used to air it every weekday at 3:30 in the summertime. Not matter what me and my friends were doing outside, we stopped for Lost in Space.

The title sequence for Season three is better, too. Showing the cast members in the optical effect was much better than the cheap animation used in the the first two seasons.

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, Shrimp Ramen and Cherry Kool-Aid on the couch, August of 1989. This show, and all of the classic re-run favorites on WPVI Philly. Loved it then, and thankful for the memories now. They had such imagination. Even if it was campy and gauche. What fun.

I was 10 in 1965 when Lost in Space debuted and the weekly monsters they had on were scarey to me, But I lived for seeing it weekly, Ahead of its time, then 1 yr later Star Trek came on, I was SciFI oriented then, Loved Science Fiction Theater when that came on every Saturday afternoon. But the scarriest show for me was The Outer Limits. Starting in September 1963 on Friday nights.

During Season 1, CBS started color broadcasts. That's why LOST IN SPACE with to color in the second season on. I don't know why the theme song was changed to a disco-rock style in the third season, but it is good. And the title sequence from Season 3 is superior to Seasons 1 and 2, which look cheap and awkwardly produced.

Anyone ever notice that in NEARLY every episode when the Jupiter 2 is on a planet somewhere, that the "Landing legs" are NOT extended, and that the ship is resting on its' belly, and they just walk up a RAMP to get inside??? BUT whenever they DO show the ship taking off, it is usually ONLY from the "Landing Legs" extended position??? Maybe it's just ME????

The series was great in the first season, not bad in the 2nd, And, after the execs. found out Dr. Smith, the robot and Will Robinson were the most popular characters, turned it into, "The Dr. Smith, the robot, and Will Robinson Comedy Show". Honestly, I enjoyed the third season for its' batsh*t ridiculousness (remember the vegetable alien dude turning Dr. Smith into a carrot?), but nobody can deny it went completely off the edge. If you think about it, its' 3 seasons mirror its' competitor, 'Star Trek'; one really great 1st season, an O.K. second season, and an abysmal 3rd season.

Many episodes of the third season of LIS are far superior to basically any episode of the second season. “The Condemned of Space”, “Hunter’s Moon”, “Visit to a Hostile Planet”, “The Space Creature”, “The Anti-Matter Man”, “Target Earth”…several more.
