One of my first experiences in crossing an extremely busy street overseas was in the heart of Cairo about 35 years ago. I was standing on the curb of a 10-lane street with traffic whizzing past in every direction with my full pack on my back wondering how I was going to get across when a local saw my predicament. He grabbed my elbow and said, "Like this." and walked me straight across the street. All the traffic swerved around us and we got safely to the other side. It took a few minutes for my heart to slow down.

Another fantastic video! You always spark my curiosity, which is a good thing. I do hope someone can confirm this or correct me, but I think that painting at around 12:00 is where Lord Ram (blue) visits Tulsidas (seated in white) who finally recognizes him but is frozen by his awe so Lord Ram puts his own tilak on. Looking forward to what's next!

I believe you are right about the painting. That image in the temple is of Sri Ram, brother Lakshman and Sant Tulsidas, at Chitrakut, sixteenth century. Sant Tulsidas created Sri Ram Charit Manas, which is a Hindu scripture based on the life story of Sri Ram. This book can be found in every Hindu home and in every Hindu temple. Regular readings and chanting of the same are done. While most Hindu scriptures are in Sanskrit and ancient, Ram Charit Manas is in Awadhi, the language of the common people in and around Ayodhya ji, and was composed in the sixteenth century. It is in the form of poetry and can be chanted or sung in rhythm. It is said that Sri Ram and his brother Lakshman appeared and gave darshan to Sant Tulsidas at Chitrakut and the image represents that.

You might have been a bit more explicit: the massacre was ordered by a British officer (Brigadier General Reginald Dyer) against a gathering of unarmed civilians gathered in that square. He ordered his troops to fire at he thickest part of the crowd, and they fired 1650 bullets. It was hardly a unique act: the following day the British sent RAF planes to bomb the village of Gujranwala just north of Amritsar. Some in Britain condemned Dyer, but he had a lot of public support and there was the equivalent of a go-fund-me campaign that raised 26,000 pounds (about $2 million today). After he died in 1927, he had a small military funeral in Bristol, but then he was given a second funeral by him supporters, a huge ceremonial funeral in London where his coffin was mounted on a gun carriage, draped in the British flag and paraded through the streets to the Guards Chapel. The massacre was a horrific act but it showed the brutality of British rule, and hastened the end of the Empire.

11:47 that's Rama, the protagonist of Hindu Epic "Ramayana". The man, the Guru, is a 16th century poet - Tulsidas (who wrote poems or couplets in old Hindi). Not sure the meaning of the above lines, but it seems like he wrote a couplet saying how he met Rama (and his brother "laxmana" who often accompany him), in the form of two children (who also happened to be dressed like Rama and Laxmana) and were intrigued when the poet was rubbing sadlewood (or making paste of it to apply on his forehead) and the children approached him and he then later asked one of them to put a tilak of that paste on his forehead.
@truthteller2991 Жыл бұрын
Tulsidas was born in 1511. He was one of many scholars who translated Valmiki's Ramayan (sanskrit) in local dialect of their regions and he translated for north indian dialect . When he says "he met Rama/Laxman", (if thats what you mean) , it is implying devotional aspect from him. Many scholars have translated Ramayana from varios regions of India and south east asia [Thailand etc]. Ramayana and Hindusim was spread all around south east asia till Buddhism came and thats why you haveAyutthaya in Thailand. Ayutthaya's founders, King U Thong and his father, King Ramathibodi I, were deeply influenced by the Ramayana, an ancient Indian epic centered on the life of Rama, the revered prince of Ayodhya.

during the British Raj 200 million to 250 million people Indians were killed. most of them killed by artificially engineered famines others were killed directly. before leaving they did partition of India which cost more than 1 million lives, created an almost permanent enemy for india and gave the power to their agents which became government of India. then that government gave away 120000 sqm of more India's land to neighbouring countries like it was their own properties. they also made the highly Indian distorted history written by British of India as official one and continued British education system which was designed to control the population without trying to revive ancient Indian education system which focused on raising human consciousness like no other culture ever had. puppet Indian govts over the years sent India's wealth Britain and to their bank accounts in Europe which in the past decade have changed drastically in india and first time it is looking like a nation which is trying to break the shackles.
