Күн бұрын

Is this another wrong turn? We're barreling down an old gravel road in the middle of nowhere to find Whitecotton Antique Mall, a surprisingly large vintage facility in the back 40 that is really somewhere for antique lovers!
This unlikely place we found at the last minute has a bunch of likable stuff, from an antique carousel horse and a real life-sized Ronald McDonald statue to interesting 1904 St. Louis World's Fair glasses and a Victorian 'Vermont' pattern lidded jar. We run into a familiar friend with a booth here (with great prices that leave us up this creek with a paddle), enjoy a Christmas tree with things you never imagined as ornaments, and spot an English dining suite that helps illustrate how two appraisers can come to very different conclusions about the same antique items.
There's not much time before they close, so we sprint through as much of this surprisingly oversized vintage vault as we can, picking up bargains we spot and enjoying everything from an amazing 1910s umbrella and cane display to a great tin litho store cabinet. There's a lot to see in this most unlikely location outside of Marion, Illinois, and we look forward to our next visit when we can comb it more thoroughly!

That Roseville at about 2:40 wasn't Carnellian, or Carnellian II. It was Tuscany. They made it in grey and pink. They made Carnellian I in many forms, and when they made Carnellian II they used fewer forms but apparently did colors over the base Carnellian I resulting in being able to see the original glaze color on the bottom. Carnellian II is actually a bit scarce in most markets, made harder to identify with the plethora of colors unless you absolutely know the shapes. You might have a point about how the line came about though. They probably did have it laying around unsold and decided to spice up the glaze and give it another shot. It certainly sounds plausible.

You are so correct about not believing something is in great condition- I know of a few that because their eyesight is affected by cataracs and they tend to miss a lot.

Good evening, George! That child's washing machine was interesting. I kind of liked that. There was a Victorian hanging lamp in that space, too, that caught my eye. Couldn't tell if it had been monkied with, though. I got my big, Empire style, oak sideboard for $45.00...MANY years ago, at auction. I liked that old kerosene pump. I had a decanter set like the red one, at one time, it was lost in the house fire. The set I had was in green. The Mary Gregory is one thing I've never gotten into. That and Northwood's "Grape & Cable"...among a few others...are beverage sets I've never been interested in owning. There was a printer's drawer there that I'd likely had to get. Loved that National Biscuit Company cabinet! There was a child's sand pail, on the red cart, that I liked. That looked like a really good place to shop, and the prices were really good! Thanks for taking us along!!!

Speaking of out of the way places, I saw a very interesting looking antique and vintage place on HWY 287 between Laramie and Fort Collins. Out all by itself on this mountain road. Looked like a farmhouse/barn well maintained old building. I was driving that road really early morning so it wasn’t open. And I had a LONG way to go. So I didn’t stop. But it’s a beautiful drive. You might try that drive if you’re in that neighborhood (on your way to see Yvon, maybe?).

Not a fan of roll top desks, but that epic desk was so unique, I love it! Seeing the baby tub reminded me of the time I put my baby sister's new walking shoes on her while she was in a baby bath. Mom walked my grandparents to the door across the room and when she turned her back, on went the brand new leather Stride-Rites the pediatricians all recommended for toddlers. They surely got kickbacks lol. I got my ass busted. ✌

At 14:15 in the video there is a X-mas tree behind you. There are teacups hanging on it, is that a thing or just a way to display/get them out of the way??? Interesting for sure. Have a great day

Could you point me in the direction of where to get some antique and vintage jewelry appraised? I took it to someone in my town and it did not go good. My great grandparents traveled around and made jewelry so I know just enough to know that what he told me was just not right. 😊
