This may be useful information for you... When dress forms are smaller and not adjustable, women would pad it with layers of newspaper until it's the needed size. (my mother was a professional seamstress and she had one that she did that with)

The Dunlap is not the Stanley you saw at the mall. But the one you got is in great condition, the paint on the wood grips is perfect and it's a $50 item. You can clean the sole with a little solvent, just the sole, to get rid of those nasty white streaks.
@TheAntiqueNomad14 күн бұрын
Thank you, good advice! No, it isn't the same desirability level of Stanley, but certainly good enough for the price

I have my mom’s Westbend Penguin and its box . I refer to it as a timeless piece . I wonder just how many of those were made ? They’re everywhere 😂. In a way it reminds me of the Kirby vacuum . There was one of each in homes . The Kirby sales people sure knew how to sell .

They made a lot but they’re popular still!

I do like the Candlewick pattern glass, from the estate sale. The knight and lady... they don't have any colors, or size in common. I think the seller thought they were close enough? 🤔 I love the solid colors 70s Pyrex. My parents had the Westbend 70s flower ice bucket. I love custard glass, glowy or not. Stay safe and enjoy.
@TheAntiqueNomad14 күн бұрын
Agreed about the knight and lady not seeming to be a match, but the marks seemed similar. I like the solid color Pyrex too, and custard glass is cool regardless of how much uranium they used!

I was on Facebook on those groups from the 70s and 80s they showed a picture of Stevie Nicks and I swear it looked just like Leif Garrett. I pulled up the picture of him and one of those teen magazines I can't remember which one it was in the early picture of Stevie Nicks and they were like identical it was amazing.

Hi George! I'm interested in purchasing the Grove's Tasteless Chill Tonic measuring glass you that we saw you find in this video. I work at the haunted old Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC. I was trapped there for 3 days when Helene hit, yes, it was dark and spooky especially navigating my way through floor after floor in the original Main Inn late at night with just a very old dim flashlight with old half dead batteries. I was very happy to get out when the streets were cleared and extremely relieved to get to my mountain home to discover my son and granddaughter safe. I wish I could have seen this video when it first uploaded, I hope you still have the glass.

I don't mean to be that guy, but are you *sure* that silverware shown at 3:30 was silverplate? When you showed it on camera I could have sworn it was Wallace "Rose Point", a sterling pattern.

It seemed very similar but was definitely marked plate. I can’t find evidence that Wallace made it in plate but it also seemed just a bit off from the Rose point shape

25:16 as someone who loves older-looking kitchenware, the crazing wouldn't dissuade me from buying a canister, as I'm buying it to be used and not so much for decoration. Plus crazing shows the true age of something.

Good evening, George. I would've probably had to get the silver plate set, at that price. My grandparents had one of the old Moroccan hanging light fixtures, in blue, with the bubble glass...left it when they moved to a different house 😐 Someone they knew brought it back from a trip to Morocco, in the 1960s. It was big and heavy. I'd love to have it now. There are still several of the old Asian dolls here that mom collected. I'm hanging onto them, too. I would've had to get the Alfred Hitchcock magazines. I like Hitch. Do a lot of souvenir pieces sell? I've never liked them, so I never collected any of them. I'm one of the people that really likes crazing, so the _Cattail_ pieces I liked. I have two of the annodised aluminium beverage sets - one West Bend and one Zephyr. There were a lot of interesting items there, and the prices were really good. Thanks for taking us along!
@TheAntiqueNomad14 күн бұрын
That was a surprising place! The Moroccan fixtures just caught my eye, they always have. Neat that you had one that came from there in the family! I like Hitch too, Rear Window is one of my favorite movies of all time. Souvenir pieces can sell, they really vary so much in quality and style that it just depends on the one. Anodized aluminum is really cool looking, but my fillings react to aluminum so I don't use any! I'm glad you had fun with this one, I never know what to expect but this place has something to it
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS14 күн бұрын
@@TheAntiqueNomad I wish that Moroccan fixture was still in the family! Grandmother liked the look of it, but she didn't like the fact that the blue glass didn't allow a lot of light through it, so it was left in the house when they sold it. The thing with souvenir pieces, for me, is names of places or events on them. I've just never cared for that. I don't use any of the beverage sets in my collection, so them looking cool is all I'm about with them. They just set on stuff...all over the house...and look pretty 😂
@TheAntiqueNomad2 күн бұрын
@ pretty is good enough reason to have them! Souvenirs are a form of advertising and so lack subtlety, but I like them if they’re from a place I dwell
