Thing to note about Donkey Kong Jr.: while the timeline seems to differ depending on the era of Nintendo, the main consensus nowadays is that Donkey Kong from the arcade game has grown older to be the character who is now called Cranky Kong. Cranky Kong's son is Donkey Kong Jr., who is actually the father of the present Donkey Kong. So had Donkey Kong Jr. been present in Double Dash, he would have been a child racing along with the adult version of his son. Weird.

2:04 -This is because they decided to go a different direction after SML2:SGC. They introduced Wario and retconned the story to reveal Tatanga was always a lacky of Wario. Daisy is the princess of Sargassaland. The entire first game was revealed to be a set up distraction for Mario to get him far away while Wario and the other minions took over his island. Why would an alien want a very specific princess and also hang out int he same distant desert country she is from while her attempting recuer is in active persuot? He wouldn't..unless the whole point was just to keep the "hero" busy. Wario took off in ways Tatanga didnt so they DID continue to elaborate on him instead. After his defeat, Wario's other minions also got dropped. This includes an Octopus, Mouse, Bird, Witch and three pigs. They all featured in japanese comics and have interesting personailities/designs. They also could easily be slipped back into Mario environments again but sadly dont have much reason to. Most have counterparts that fit the Mario esthetics they would go into more and already played out their Gimiks. Tatanga is a very generic alien monster whos main thing is piloting a suit/cockpit ship. The Galaxy and other games using space them have introduced better and more Mario stylized versions of an enemy like this. There have been magical crone characters in the franchise long before the witch that are also more on brand with the magikoopa. Most of the animal enemies are interesting only to their themeing and have precisting counterparts as well. You have mousers that throw bombs rather than just run into you, bloopers that do everything the octopus does and more, and winged enemies a plenty. The three pigs are possibly the most origional since they have a construction worker theming. They dont teally play to this in their moveset though and we have enemies that DO. The Bros. Emenies can rush and jump at Mario like the pigs while incorperating construction tools or sports equipment like hammers or balls. Don't get me wrong, Tatanga was perfect for his purpose and intrumental for Mario handheld transition. That IS the key though. Even by his seocnd game, what he was technically for a game had already downgraded from main boss material. The development of those games is what made him and sealed his fate. The handheld series grew very fast in evert way and outgrew him as well. They needed a generic enemy not already part of the Mario ensable to take this risk but since they made it and suceeded, his more bland background and offbrand design cold be left in the dust for bigger things. Wario and to a lessser extent, Daisy were the big take aways from those early days. Even Captain Syrup barely makes a return..and she was a huge part of Wario lore form the THIRD game in the series. If anything, she and the genie should be returning Wario related lost characters. Sure she drove the plot in Shake It and thus got more recent representation than Tatanga but she was also more integral to Wario being his own antihero. Plus..maybe what he is today at all? The Wario lore is a bit vague and conflicting but I THINK the idea is that the Wario centric world we see him live in in the WarioWare and Shake It games IS the planet the genie makes if you get the best ending in SML3:WL. A world full if suckers to fleece who love him depite that always happening seems to be the ideal Wario fantasy. He woudlnt want everything just handed to him but to have the satisfaction of getitng it out of others. He also wouldnt want to be celebrated qhite like Mario but treated how his "friends" would in that world. They all look up to or crush on him, including Mona, but can be rivalrous at the same time. Its possible that none of that would exist had it not been for Syrup and her Genie.

Wart actually might be a dream creature since the only other time he is seen is in the Legend of Zelda link’s awakening he appears this time as mamu a frog idol of sorts but uses the same design as wart. he teaches you the frog song of soul which can bring alive long dead things. But oddly enough it’s later revealed link’s awakening is a dream link is sharing with the wind fish meaning the only times wart appears is in dreams hence me leading to believe he is a dream creature

I remember the Noki's. Outside Noki Bay, they appeared in, Gelato Beach, Pinna Park, and Sierna Beach. The old man noki is tied to one of the biggest Super Mario Sunshine mysteries, the book. His grandson is memorable by association, and the momma and baby noki are cute. There's also another raccoon appears in Noki Bay.

Donkey Kong Jr is the one that saddens me the most. I love the SNES Donkey Kong Country games but making up a completely random new character instead of having literally the only kong character that existed besides DK himself was just stupid and it baffles me that a company as stingy as Nintendo allowed that to happen. It's like if Luigi was suddenly permanently replaced in Super Mario World.

Fun fact, Cranky Kong is the original Donkey Kong from the Arcade games. So technically Yoshi’s Island DS isn’t canon, at least in DKC lore. Since Mario is in the original DK Arcade game. How I would make both YIDS and the DKC lore canon to Mario lore, is to just establish that Cranky was still the original DK. But Gorillas in the Marioverse look young until they hit an age where their body starts to rapidly weaken as if they were rapidly aging. Which is what happened to Cranky at some point during the early SMB games and prior to DKC. Maybe establish that Cranky also had two children or that you don’t have to be a biological father/mother for a stork to bring you a baby. Allowing DKC’s DK to be delivered after Mario. And maybe at some age DK would get grand children from a stork. Establishing “grand child” to not have the exact same definitions as us. Or again, establish Cranky having a child before DK Jr.. And that child is what led to the stork delivering Baby DK. At some point, the first child disappears as DKC’s DK grew up. While DK Jr. was still hanging around. And maybe after the first Mario Kart, DK Jr. decided to move away to have his own adventures. Leaving just Og DK and DKC’s DK. Also, around the time the Donkey Kong trilogy on Arcade and the GB game took place, is when Mario vs. Donkey Kong took place.

Hey I know some characters you forgot in Mario hoops 3 on 3/Mario slam basketball (A basketball spin off for the 3ds) 5 characters appear one is Moogle Ninja White Mage Black and Cactuar they all originated from final fantasy but they all made many appearances in many Mario sports games

The Nokis aren’t in just one level! They appear in Pinna Park, Gelato Beach, Sirena Beach and Noki bay! And outside of Mario Sunshine they have an appearance in Mario Kart 8 in the background~. And these raccoons are in the Shop, yes, but also is one of them in Noki bay selling boots. =)

The reason we don't see Donkey Kong Jr. is because he's DK's father! In case you don't know (so just Infinite Bits), the Donkey Kong from the arcade game is actually Cranky Kong, DK's full legal name is Donkey Kong the third.

Wart did make a return but not in a Mario game. He was in The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening, which was, spoiler alert, all just a dream. Also, a misconception is that Donkey Kong Jr is NOT the son of Donkey Kong, but is the son of Cranky Kong. Donkey Kong Jr is the father of the Donkey Kong from the Donkey Kong Country series.
