Hello VOG, I"ve found that the white patches on my resins aren't from the curing process but from IPA still on the surface of the model reacting with the glycerin. See if the patches persist if you let them dry an extra 20 mins or so between the steps. It works on the EC200 anyway, so I suspect it will for syratech too. Cheers!
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
Interesting... I'll have to try that. 😁
@matthewellis62222 жыл бұрын
I thought the same for the longest time. Then I let it dry completely after the wash. I havnt had that issue in months now.
@gppl772 жыл бұрын
To summarize - some level of pixelation on the print is there, but casting and plaster imperfections and cleanup process completely hides all that. Thus for casting purposes one can skip messing with antialiasing as there's no point. Thanks a lot for sharing! For some reason this is the only review of casting with D2.
@harryragland78402 жыл бұрын
The model looks like it had detail on all parts of the ring including where you attached the sprue. Would there be merit in attaching the sprue to the inside of the ring's face to try to preserve all of the detail?
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, yes, but this is just a bronze replica that will never be worn. I have limited time available to make these videos so speed and convenience are more important than perfection. As a side note, this ring is incredibly difficult to cast as the designer has also covered the inside of the band with decoration as well, meaning there's no one safe spot for the sprue 😁
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I'd say I have "no casting experience" as of course I've cast probably 100 items or so now. However, I have no formal training and would say I'm 99% self taught. As for the sprue position, check my videos. You'll see occasions where I've sprued to the inside of the band. On this occasion I chose the convenience of an easy print to save time.

I'd be curious to see a non-'castable' resin burned our and cast side by side with 'castable' resin. In my jewelry class years, we used all sorts of rubber/plastic cut from kids toys and display models combined with castable wax and other nonsense to make our molds and it burned out just fine then. I can't imagine non-'castable' resin would be much different of a scenario.

not every resin is burnable because of the changes in chemical composition when heated like that it could be dangerous.

You sir, is a godsent. Whambam me! I just started to learn about a 3d printer, to print the face scans for the family and some miniatures. It’s an understatment to say that it is quite overwhelming to learn a new tech. Your videos are helping me a lot. And while this might mean nothing to else, the subtitles helps me a ton to gather the informations. And I know for sure that is some extra works. Anyway, thank you for being there. I got a recommendation for Anycubic D2 from my friend, and I guess it is the way to go. It may be quite a unnecessary prize for a beginner for me, but I guess I’ll have to see. Again, thanks a lot! Have a nice day (or night), and I wish you only the best for the test of the month, and year!
