Absolutely frothed out of my mind on my 5’7” Retro Tripper! I’ve had it for a couple weeks and it hasn’t left my car once. It’s my new favorite go to board for all conditions. I’ve had days where I’ve surfed my shortboard ‘till I couldn’t paddle, then grabbed this for the bonus afternoon session. 30L is on the top end of my volume range and while I’m psyched on the size, I could have gone smaller - I’m an expert surfer at 160lbs. This board glides into waves, is fast down the line, holds in tube sections and turns like a modern shortboard. It’s got a fun, lively feel and I’ve had the most fun on it when it was waist to shoulder high, rippable, down the line point type waves on my forehand. I’m a regular foot and if I was headed anywhere with right hand point breaks - this board would 100% be packed in the board bag. With the twin plus trailer, it goes great on the backhand too. Psyched to have this board for full days of waves or cruisy sessions where I want to catch all the waves but still rip a turn or get a tube. I paired it with the MR PC Twin plus stabilizer fins as advised by Trip - do it, get these fins for this board!

Hey Jason - How does this compare to the Rad Ripper for surfing small/medium beach breaks? I'm considering a Rad Ripper, but this one looks fun as well... Just figured I would ask since you've ridden both.

Looks like such an epic board, keen to give one a test! Looks very similar to the Evil Twin too which I absolute love as my small wave board!

Nice review! Which board would do better in groveler conditions... Rocket Redux or Quiver Killer? Im picking between the two. Which would be the better paddler?

Rocket redux for both.

How is the Retro Tripper compared to the RNF?

Can you ride it as a twin? Or is 2+1 the move ?

That's one of those things where, yes you can, but it will not perform like it does as a 2+1. It would be extremely loose, and probably not in a fun fishy way
