I always love when you explore Utah and Salt Lake in general Jon. I grew up as a 5th generation pioneer Mormon who's great, great grandpa was on the run from the US Marshalls because he was a polygamist. I remember the false narrative of how the Salt Lake Temple was built and how long it took. My parents actually got married there back in the 60's. I remember a video you did a year or two ago where you were talking to a construction worker, but some of the audio was fuzzy and I remember you asking the man how deep the temple goes down and he said something like 6 stories. It blows my mind that people still believe the false narratives that we were all brainwashed with all while living in the information age. Thank you Jon for all that you do, you are truly inspiring. Take care my friend!

I worked for at&t for a time and had access to many of their central offices. You could do a whole series on the ornamentation and design that went into many of those now mostly abandoned buildings, even the ones that are in small forgotten towns across the country. I used to enjoy walking through them and exploring every corner and every floor, and you could still feel the history of whatever used to take place inside each one. It's a shame (but not surprising) that the company doesn't care about them other than just a housing for the terminal equipment contained within. The reason many of the lower windows are bricked up is for security of an otherwise mostly unoccupied building.
@stripedcollar335 Жыл бұрын
I grew up mostly in a small NC town called Burlington. There is an old AT&T facility out there that covers hundreds of acres under-ground. There used to be mechanical switching down there for the phone system, some kind of east-coast switching station, but they shut that and the attached R&D facility down in the late 60's. That's when the last AT&T employee left the building, and 2 or 3 (at least) uniformed US Army soldiers began standing guard at the gate. My grandfather worked there for 20 years, and I delivered pizza to those soldiers for 2. They wouldn't talk about what went on there or why they were there constantly. When I delivered their pizza, I had a phone number to call when I got there. I was not allowed to leave my car. I got out the first time, and had a rifle pointed at me immediately. They put me back in my car and showed me where to drive up next time. I would call and wait 2 minutes. The front gate would roll up just high enough for a soldier to lie down on the floor and roll through with his weapon. He would stand up, dust off, and walk over to car to get the pizza. Different guy every time.

Superb! Finally someone showcased the pavement lights!!!! AMETHYSTlooking quartz squares and circles in S.F. and Seattle! There is a photo of 1902 downtown of SW 6th & Broadway Ptld of underside walks access (restroom?) that show the streets would have been lighted underneath for paving way to theaters in that nightlife district. It looks like real cut quartz or lavender glass - there’s some still around, but most gone with the mass transit malls of 1990-2000s. There is some explanation on-line of technology, but skimpy 😻👏👏👏thank so much!!!

When you compare old world buildings to what we throw up, you see a very definitive loss of character, loss of artistic expression, and a dullness enters with antiseptic qualities in the newer buildings. Our architecture is of a soul-less drab quality compared to the fullness and order the viewer gets when looking at the old world buildings. You cannot help but to think back and ask yourself, who were these people, and when did they build this. Surely there must be there original site plans and building plans for the old buildings in the Town Building Official's Office? Ans if they do not exist, well then draw your own conclusions. I find this stuff fascinating, it opens my mind to other possibilities, in a present day world where the controllers are shutting down consciousness. My hat's off to Jon. Thank You brother!!!!

The same rock walls, the buried windows, courthouses etc, all the same in Ohio. I’ve toured lots of old buildings and homes, courthouses and the Statehouse. According to the narrative highly known builders came from Germany etc to build these places. I have owned two homes built before 1890. Beams made from rough trees. Everything was much better than today’s flim-flam sham materials. I applaud your genius good cup of coffee fix. Thanks for another great video.

Back in the day when I had less weight to carry I travelled all over Canada. Stayed in many of our major cities; always at the local fairmont hotel (formerly CP hotels). These hotels were purported to have been built at the time the railway was pushed through - pre 1900. Massive ornate structures in cities with a pittance of the populations they possess today. That being said, there was something about these hotels which just appealed to me; even if they were a bit outdated when compared to the local Hyatt or Hilton they just had more class.

I'll never forget the courthouse in my old home in Kenosha. Almost the whole town is modern wood buildings besides a small strip of old town brick buildings, but the Kenosha County courthouse is massive. It's 3 stories high, made all of stone. It has Ionic columns, and the stairs leading up to the entrance of the building are wide enough for a car. The front doors have been redone into those awfully sterile metal rimmed glass doors, but the inside is beautiful. There are paintings, and frescoes, and some of the wood has decorative carving done. The "ceremonial courtroom" in particular is a fabulous room. The building is connected via underground passage to another building which used to be a jail, but is now the district attorney's office. Oh, and all of this is supposedly meant to serve a county with less than 200,000 people in it even today. A massive, three story, indiana limestone castle is what Wisconsinites arbitrate their traffic tickets in. Just look at online photos of it. It's insane that somewhere as small as Kenosha created that place for a courthouse.
