Growing up in Minneapolis in the 80s certainly provided a lot of homegrown talent!

Yes, the musicians that were on the scene in the 1980s gave us some great tunes to remember! Stay Gold, Retro Man.

That was a great track from Andre. I'm hoping to cover that song one day in an upcoming episode. Stay Gold, Retro Man.

Kim Wilde, hnnnnng. My second celebrity crush after Dana Plato. "Kids in America" is one of my all-time faves. This is pretty catchy in that classic uptempo 80s way. A few things get blown up in the music video, lol. Still have an old 80s phone. The ol' rotary dial not button, tho. We weren't that fancy haha

Yes, Kim Wilde has a big fanbase! You're right, "Kids In America", is hard to beat. It was a top-tier anthem for her. I have a rotary dial somewhere too, they were great. Oooh the memories! Stay Gold, Retro Man.

I wanted to smash on Dana Plato. 😅

If I recall correctly, Kim's brother kept working on a song in his room, annoying her. He said this is going to be a hit. He finished it, had her sing it, and it WAS a hit. More oddly...this was created NOT in America. More: Billy Joe from Green Day loves this song, especially The Muffs version (which I agree, is much more energetic, punky).

Yes, "Kids In America" was written by Kim's father & brother. They did a great job of the song and Kim did a tremendous job of the vocals. It's one of Kim's signature tracks. Some of the other versions by various artists are cool as well. Stay Gold, Retro Man.

I wore "I'll be You" out back in the day. And I'm from the deep south not Minnesota.

YYes, I do enjoy some of Kim's 80s hits. "You Came" is one that comes to mind, and I just love her version of the Diana Ross and The Supremes classic "You Keep Me Hanging On." have not heard of the song you mentioned here but will listen to it soon. No, I have never heard of that other band you mentioned. Love and Light x

Yes, Kim has had some big hits over the years. "The Second Time" is one that didn't do as well and not many talk about it. As for The Replacements, they aren't very well known outside of the US & Canada. Stay Gold, Retro Man.

Not crazy bout the Kim Wilde song, but I have heard I'll Be You by The Replacements many times, I feel that it should have been a big hit. Great song.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You're right, "The Second Time" is definitely not top-tier Kim, but I must say, that Replacements song is pretty catchy. Stay Gold, Retro Man.
