"Another Life" is classic 80s - monster bass, synth chorus. It's the type of track I wanna learn on the keyboard I just bought. First step to becoming a keytar god! "Breakdance" is an ATHEM! Killer chorus. Got heavy rotation on my H'its Huge 84 compilation tape. Peak Irene Cara probably coincided with the breakdance craze of '83-84. She was everywhere at the time. I mean, she won a Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe! 😲 Speaking of go-go girls, there was a pub in Adelaide that still had them dancing in cages until the mid-90s. The Royal Admiral on Hindley Street was a pretty rough pub. Legit had sawdust covering the wooden floorboards coz it was easier to sweep up the blood, teeth and glass at the end of the night. Not even joking lmao

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the decade that matters! Both songs offer so much nostalgia. That Kano track is a total ear-worm and Irene Cara was definitely an 80s music legend, may her songs live on! I'll take a pass on spending time in that pub, but I'm sure, it has some truly entertaining tales to tell. Stay Gold, Retro Man.

This movie has something that todays movies forget that they should have: entertainment value. The actress said that the movie was made solely for tax write off purposes. Just imagine what it could have been with an actual budget or that would have reduce the movie to something forgettable? P.S. The opening music is just awesome!

If I recall correctly, Kim's brother kept working on a song in his room, annoying her. He said this is going to be a hit. He finished it, had her sing it, and it WAS a hit. More oddly...this was created NOT in America. More: Billy Joe from Green Day loves this song, especially The Muffs version (which I agree, is much more energetic, punky).

@ Cool. I have the vinyl and half dozen late 70s and 80s albums. Just buying the CDs now. I prefer the original CDs if possible. Don’t like loud compression remasters. Lots of his albums only made it to CD in 2002/2004! Nearly Famous, Every Face, Green Light, were never issued in the 80s. Rock N Roll Juvenile was issued in 1989, I’m No Hero had a different cover when issued in the 80s, Wired was issued in 1987, Now You See Me, 1987, Silver had most of Silver Rock N Roll on one disc in 1983, Dressed For the Ocassion was issued in the 80s. Then from Always Guaranteed onwards CD was standard. He mustn’t have been as popular in the 80s since a good few of the old the albums didn’t get a vinyl transfer. Dressed For the Ocassion remaster from 2004 has extra tracks from the concert and worth getting. His Knebworth 1990 appearance is very good too. He’s a great singer and performer, but like I said, the albums have some pretty dodgy filler but I get a kick out of that. First Date and You Can’t See from Now You See Me are terribly corny songs with poor lyrics. But the fact he gives every song his all in an almost effortless manner is what’s cool.
