Word “training” was never mentioned in this episode? I can probably train someone straight out of high school to be accountant, including taxes (which I don’t consider accounting but policy, I have to bring this up because it’s difficult to tell if you’re talking taxes or bookkeeping, and I think this is 90% tax prep accounting you’re talking about, which isn’t bookkeeping part of accounting) and they have the added benefit of knowing SQL by the time I’m done with them. Accountant that isn’t a programmer is a joke. People need to wake up and realize this profession has changed. What’s the difference between accountant and truck driver? None. So the only way to differentiate is to learn more skills. So programming is now mandatory because it allowed you to come up with better and more accurate reports.
