i had a vintage tie fighter and noticed someone on eBay selling a mint box with inserts for this toy. so, i bid,won and purchased the box. when the box arrived it was exactly as described but included was a mint droids factory box. i had a droids factory so i put this toy in the box as well....awesome.

Update: Found hidden inside a secret compartment in the bottom of that KFC bucket was the Colonel's secret recipe of eleven herbs and spices. It is currently awaiting auction at Sotheby's, and is projected to fetch a "finger-lickin' good" price.

The best deal ever got was back in the days when eBay first started. Someone was selling a complete Y-wing with an R2 with sensor scope, a break apart C-3PO with net and a Chewbacca, but they forgot to put a reserve price to start the bidding, so it started at 99c and they also left it at a two-day auction. I won the auction for like $15. Another old auction I won was for "Transforming robot jet" which was an early Transformers Jetfire that's still had the Macross symbols on the wings.

It is not Star Wars but one time I found a complete set of 1978 Monty Gum Blank Back Elvis Presley trading cards. The guy had them misslisted. He had them listed under another Elvis set that was very common. The Monty Gum Blank Back set is worth around $2 - $2 a card. I scored it for under $10 that included shipping. It usually goes for at least $125 a set. Just a few weeks ago I scored a hand full of 1977 Star Wars cards, 2 stickers, and one 1976 Star Trek sticker. The Star Trek sticker goes for about $10 a piece. I got it for just under $5 and that is with shipping. The funny thing is the Star Trek sticker was listed as a Chewbacca sticker. The trick is not finding misspelled words, eBay will catch misspelled words. The trick is finding something that was not listed right or something good in the listing that was not mentioned in the title.

Summer of '95 - I was a college student with little money and went to a local Star Trek convention with a buddy. I came across a vendor selling vintage SW figures MOC - I asked how much for the ROTJ Tatooine scene Boba Fett thinking there was no way I could afford it (even back then it was $250 in AFN and Toy Review) - he looked it up on his list and said $25. I asked if he'd take $20, which he did! I still have it to this day, along with the ROTJ Fireball Fett that I scored at an antique mall a year earlier for $20. Those were the days! A few years later scored a couple vintage sealed mail away Fetts on eBay for $50 each with no addresses on them. He was selling five of them - should have snagged them all. I traded one and just sold the other last year for over $700.

In 2009 I lost a bidding war for a legendary lot of ROTJ playsets and vehicles. They were all MISB or unassembled. We're talkin millenium falcons, b-wings etc. I think I bid 260 but today it would be worth thousands. I was too cheap but I didn't have much income then. During that recession there was a lot of cheap things on ebay. Not like today.

It is no longer possible to find a good deal on eBay! People just want too much for their Star Wars stuff. You’re better off going to a vintage toy store. You’ll find some good deals, if you hunt for it!

just a few months ago during this lockdown crisis, I saw a lot of around 100 Kenner figures with a C-3PO case on auction on eBay and in the pile of figures I could see a Han Solo Carbonite original Kenner, which I still needed for my collection. I ended up winning the lot. It was one of those that ended late at night and I got it for less than I would have paid for the Han alone. I can’t Remember the exact amount but it was less than what I would have paid for had I just gone and bought Han Carbonite by himself.

Early days of Ebay were different. Found and purchased an original bolt of Star Trek captains shirt cloth for $20 and an Original 1960s unused Herbie 53 gumball sticker for $10. Both from Burbank are and with certifications. Try finding deals like that now. Ended up selling both later on. Regretting not keeping a piece if the fabric. Deals like that dont happen like that anymore.

True fact , last year i picked up a fully autographed DVD set of the star wars trilogy on DVD , but this was German , it has nearly 40 odd autographs (maybe a few more i haven't counted properly ) including principle actors and has photos of them signing ,it cost me £200 but i had sent other versions on DVD of star wars ... Now the signed has now a few passed on stars including Dave Prowse and Carrie Fisher, i can prove i have ownership of said item ....i have no idea of value but i was pretty stoked what the seller did as a extra lot which when i opened the box became quite surprised .... Not many sellers like that ..... But sometimes with evil bay you get lucky

Actually, I scored today! I went by a Books-A-Million store last nyte when I saw their "Close Out! Up to 75% off!" sign. Got a bunch of Harry Potter and Transformers goodies for the kids, including an awesome chroma key powered Cloak of Invisibility! (Inner lining is green screen) Then I saw a Star Wars book and item box set that I really wanted a few years back. Sadly, it was only 20% off, making it still $80. This morning, I got curious and scoped it out on Amazon and eBay to find that it's currently going for $310-$475 from several sellers. I called that store the minite they opened and had one of the wonderful ladies pull it for me, and hailed ass there on my lunch break. LOL Now, my situation is to decide whether to cherish my possession or try to sell resell it for truck repair money. I'm currently looking for a second one, even if it's $100 on the shelf. If I resell just one of them, it will more than cover both of them. Until then, I won't disclose what it is. Cheers.

Not Star wars related, I had a debacle on eBay many years ago where I got a Reilly & Lee John Dough and the Cherub for $12, but the guy refused to sell it to me and relisted it insisting that it was a rare first edition, which it couldn't possibly have been because the company was called Reilly & Britton in 1906 when it came out and wasn't called Reilly & Lee until 1918, but he kept insisting it was a first edition and asking way too much for it. The $12 I won it for was a steal, but, like I said, he canceled and relisted it after I won, which eBay said at the time sellers weren't allowed to do.

Hope you enjoy my comment it’s a little long. When I was around 12 or 13 years old, I found the first 12, landspeeder and Dewback at a garage sale for $25. My grandpa gave me a garage sale allowance of $20. I had to beg and plead for that extra $5! Luckily he gave in just as I probably will for my grand kids someday. Anyways I still have all the figures, I think you’ve inspired me to make a video telling that story. I wanna hear more from people who made great finds

I used to like to go to estate sales to buy up stacks of old books because people have a habit of putting a few emergency dollars in books. I'm not sure if it's still a thing, but it was back in the 90s. You might spend $10 for every book a person owned and there'd be a couple hundred dollars hidden in a couple of the books. After that you could donate any books you didn't want to the library. A friend of mine got $1500 dollars once that way, but I never got more than $300.

The era of eBay deals are over my friend. The internet has literally decimated any chance of finding a good deal. People are more informed and believe everything is worth thousands of dollars, thanks to lying, exaggerative assh*les.
