Thanks for these wonderful tales of treasure and treachery. Generations have gone by since this wild country was being tamed and natures riches were there for the taking. Men who couldn’t find them honestly were inclined to take it from the people that did. There are untold caches of precious metals and gems, and many lost mines and maybe a stream that was missed by the early prospectors. These treasures are there and every year people find fortunes by chance. This couple found 10 million dollars worth of gold coins in old tin cans on there property! Many gold coins and jewellery are pulled from the beaches from the galleons if old. I’m getting too old to look for them now but your stories take me out to the places I can’t get to and I’m sure appreciative of your efforts. It was crazy just to hear someone say “Castle Dale & Ferron“ my mom grew up in Ferron. 2X a year we had family reunions in these beautiful desserts between Ferron & Green River. Most of the Indian writings & spots the Indians use to live have been completely rounded and vandalized by off road vehicles & people who don’t care what they ruin. While I’d love anyone find treasure, I encourage those who go looking to treat the desert with historical respect and to stick to roads & trails or to just walk. The damage & garbage left is ugly & terrible to see. Remember To leave an anywhere you go better, cleaner than you found it.

My Dad's family lived in Ferron in the 1940's. My Uncle said he knew a farmer in Clawson who kept fresh horses for Butch Cassidy back in the day. Great story. There is a cache of army payroll gold buried near where the Cottonwood, Huntington and Ferron rivers join to form the San Rafael river.

I found out those mesas with the lake that vanished was a spring that dried up. I located this location. As they traveled down the road (Route 24 today) they stopped for water and here the spring was chosen. But today the spring is dried up so there is no (lake). Lakes come from springs

There was a story I read about a payroll. Somewhere around Delta was stolen. That's never been found.
