This record was genius on so many levels. They even paid homage to the greatest storyteller of all time, Slick Rick. Not only with the title of the track, but with the level of story telling. The painted a very vivid picture. Then when Kendrick Lamar came in crying, and stayed in character...I can't take no more. I need a Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar full album.

And the fact that Lollipop was the ringtone “lick me” like robbing and “lick me” as in a blow job.... I think that’s awesome how they got a double entendres out of that simple little thing. This song is the Mona Lisa a “perfectly painted picture”.

My favorite line is "I say good girl, just remember what I told you, she gave me the salute, I say girl you're a soldier". Wayne really is a musical genius. Every line in his songs has at least 3 different meanings and they all make sense within the story he's telling. And he doesn't write anything down on paper. That's incredible. I don't see how he keeps it all straight in his head.
@tonyfortune346
@tonyfortune346 7 ай бұрын
Every line has 3 different meanings? I'm a big Wayne fan too but let's not get hyperbolic. Every line in his songs is not a triple entendre.
@DeMonSpencer
@DeMonSpencer 7 ай бұрын
@tonyfortune346 I was using hyperbole to make a point, which I assumed was obvious. Most people get that it's not meant to be taken literally. Lil Wayne's lyrics are often layered and nuanced, which is what I was pointing out. Sure, "every line" is an exaggeration, but it illustrates his talent... but since you uncapped the red pen I have a few notes and corrections too. A triple entendre usually involves something sexual or risqué, which wasn't the case with the line I mentioned. If we're gonna grade each other's homework here let's at least be fair. 😆

You're funny and especially foolish if you think Wayne or Kendrick are setting dudes up to get robbed/harmed. Wayne's worth about $150 million. He's not risking his freedom for some petty robbery. Just enjoy the story.

For those that dont know, I believe this song is in reference to Karrine Steffans, the chick that claimed that she will always do whatever Wayne wants, regardless if she's in a relationship or not. Shes interviewed on Vlad TV (superhead) saying that shes been married/in serious relationships and would leave her bed at 3 am to go meet up with him. Basically, it was a condition that any guy that wanted to be with her had to accept before being with her (that she would always submit to what Wayne wants, including sex). Just a little back story for the listener as to the content of the song.

To me this was very much needed for Lil Wayne. It was kinda like M. Night Shamalyan, he released a few classics, then kinda went off the deep end and became a punch line for when things go bad. lil Wayne was made into a meme because he started to have lazy bars and was made into a joke. But back to M. Night, he came out with the Visit and Split and people were like HES BACK!!!! lil Wayne released Tha Carter V and people were like HES BACK!!!! This put him in a great position showing that he never left

even the title of the song is a bar. because the song is about kendrick (the victim) slowly paiting the picture and not sure about this one but there was some stuff about mona lisa being painted from 2 perspectives or some shi, and in the song they show both of the perspectives of the plot: the plotter and the victim

Love the reaction as always. Lil Wayne finally free from Birdman. You know Lupe finally free too right. And he is from Chicago like someone else we know. Y'all gotta react to at least 5 songs on that album if not a full album review. But continue to do y'all man. Much continued contributions to the culture.

Im 33, been listening to lil wayne since I was like 13 from the block is hot days - I love all his shit. This album to me is kinda poppy - meaning its got like a mix of different stuff, much like Carter 3 - instead of just straight killer rap. There are a few songs that do sound like they could be mixtape songs, but all in all I think it is a great album especially for rap in 2018.

The Album is great and for the most part the majority agree how great the Album is and that it was a very good comeback for Wayne. But yes the album is great some of the songs sound a bit dated, just a bit but even those songs are good because its Wayne's sound. So its the good kind of dated, the one you didn't really noticed you missed until you hear it from the one who started a lot of these new/now old sounds. For some its a bit long, maybe like 2 or 3 tracks people have been saying they could have not been there. I think over 500k first week sold which is great nowadays and great for someone that's been sooooo long without releasing an Album. The Album is fire.
