Love the review! I wanna add something though, I think the "maybe cause I'm a dreamer and sleep is the cousin of death" line is him saying he has dreams as in aspirations for people to be better or have a better life, but his dreams are the cousin of death so it's almost hopeless. Like his dreams are trying to kill him or something because people either won't listen or the "system" is holding on too tight, keeping them down. Just what I get out of it, but I think you guys are right too considering what the line is surrounded by. Sleep is the cousin of death is also a famous Nas lyric that's been quoted everywhere, but you probably knew that.

I love the irony in the “never fade away” part. As she spills her doctrine, she continues to fade away trying to justify her actions, which makes her a lost cause not only to Kendrick, but also to what might inevitably happen to her in society. The second verse is from the perspective of Keisha's sister (a continuation of Keisha's Song from Section.80) - It's an angry sister calling Kendrick out for writing a song about her sister. I love the depth of this song so much.

Loved this review. This track and Money Trees were the two songs that made me realize Kendrick is on his own level, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

The music fading away for me symbolises her soul slowly passing /dying and her former/innocent self fading away

The second verse makes me wanna cry. Her being a lost cause and eventually dying from her reckless lifestyle. It makes me sad to think about.

I interpret the fade-away as if Kenny is walking away because his intention was to help her, but she’s too damaged to even mend.

500K 🙌 Let's get it !!! I really love this song it's in my playlist and I always thought just the subtle things about the song like how he adds sound effects to enhance the lyrics or how he gives you a perspective while also describing with good lyricism. His song is also great for those who aren't into hip-hop to understand where he's coming from and and how rough it was in his shoes. Great song from Kendrick and still bumping it !! Wonderful review Lost In Vegas.
