I feel like this channel has the best camera-work of all the camping channels I've watched on YT, as they're never scared to hold an interesting motive a few extra seconds, while other editors are terrified to show the same thing for more than 1½ seconds at a time. I really like it 🙂

Well done. The behind-the-scenes sections are really.interesting. And I love hearing about your and Erin's stories and what you are thinking about. Thank you for the engagement and wedding videos. That is so generous of you both. People are always the most interesting parts of YT videos. When you let us into the secret proposal plan or your long term aspirations to catch salmon, us viewers are cheering you on. So emotional. I like your sharing insights on sustainability, park management, wildlife management, etc. I don't need camping tutorials, but I enjoy seeing a cleverly tightened tarp. I like the Amok features. Ideas on making cooking easier, tastier, cheaper, faster, safer are always welcome.

Hey Jon "n" Erin. Just wanted to say, I am loving this series! As ever great work with high quality output from you. On the gas versus wood debate, you also need to consider what happens to the wood if you DON'T burn it. If you don't burn the wood, fungi will break down the wood and release the carbon locked in it back into the atmosphere anyway. Static forests which are not growing in physical size are carbon neutral, they store a lot of carbon, but unless they are getting physically bigger, they are not storing increasing amounts of carbon. The actions of the fungi release the carbon in the dead matter back into the atmosphere anyway. The reason we have carbon based fuels like gas, coal and oil is because these were formed before fungi had evolved to feed on plant matter. So wood is a totally acceptable fuel, in the context and location of where you're using it. That said, gas is much quicker and easier, so personally I use a mixture based on time pressure and hunger!

I've been a subscriber for quite a long time. This fresh perspective of what we have seen before, what is new, and how it all works is a breath of fresh air. We see your abilities evolve before our eyes and grow to appreciate the work required to make it look like it is no work at all. With reference to Erich, yes we will close our eyes and find ourselves in a new place. And it is wonderful, not because it is unexpected, but because we know we cannot do everything in one life and it is great to find companions who stretch our limits and share our sense of adventure and beauty. I only wish we were in a position to do the same for you and Erin. Please accept this "like" as one of the hundreds before and know that each one is sincerely sent.

Basically these two videos have spurred my want to be in nature, I work a shift job so I have 3 days off at a time, finna start going to different state parks and doing camping trips, work my way up to more remote type camping. I don’t think we were ever really supposed to live how we do, while I am watching this on my phone and thankful I am able to, that pull has always been there, life just becomes packed with all the “have to do’s” that the time to do things we actually want seem to be impossible to do, and that mindset just robs you of living. It’s a mindset that drains you, escaping technology, pavement, ac and all those other little comforts we have grown so fond of…well it just doesn’t scratch that itch to be the very definition of free, even if only for a short while.

This is an epic tale and truly enjoyable. When we learned about your 60-80 hour work weeks as a full time journeyman, it begs the question from each of us. What exactly IS work? I am total agreement that one can dedicate time to their passion as you have but you ARE quick to remind us that this did not in fact happen overnight. The fact that it did happen though is all the more impressive and inspiring. I have a background in music and audio production and thought I'd pass along that there are several excellent automation and audio normalization plug-ins you can use to help automatically normalize audio levels right within Resolve. Of course you'd be able to fine tune as you'd like and boost/cut where needed. Your manual keyframing audio gain made be literally gasp out loud knowing the time that must have taken. Izotope RX, Hornet, and Bute in no particular recommendation order. Just a few you can look at if you'd like and there are plenty more.
