I have those cheap punches too. Work really well on foam, and if you use a hammer good for plastic sheet too

Using the string trimmer stuff for wire is a cool idea. I would have gone with drawing lines with hot glue.

I generally don't make one offs for people, as I just don't have enough time. If you had an idea, and were O.K . with me making a publicly available pattern, and it was something I thought enough people would be into, then it might work to make a pattern for you. You'd still have to actually make it from the pattern though:)
