18:10 Abbie answers yes and nods her head, yes to make sure she was understood. This is like before when she said no. Remember the speech therapist had never seen her do that before. I would love to see what she thinks about this. It would be different if it was just a random sound and at a different time but to be the right answer to the question and to nod her head yes at the same time means Abbie is truly communicating more. Seeing her put signs together by putting help in front of what she wants is fantastic. I am so proud of this sweet precious young lady. I don't know how far this will go but, I won't put any limits on her communication skills. She is using all her resources to get her wants and needs communicated and that is the true goal. It can be verbal, gesture, sign, iPad...whatever. Abbie is learning how to use them all and I think it is wonderful.
@whitney20424 жыл бұрын
Have you ever thought of taking pictures of the common hairstyle you give Abbie and printing them or putting them on her iPad so she can tell you what she would prefer? Her communication seems to just be exploding that she might be able to do it.

Mask question.. have you heard of these things called ear savers? They're meant to be for nurses/people who wear masks for long periods of time to "save their ears" from the elastic cutting into them... I wonder if something like that would help Abbie to keep hers on a little better? Like if the behind the ears sensation is linked into her dislike of wearing sunglasses ect?

Oh, I get the messy pantry thing! Just cleaned mine yesterday. I try to clean it once a month. The fridge is next. I usually do a huge clean of the fridge 1 time a month. That includes soap and water scrub down. Then once a week, I clean out the leftover...leftovers. (The items I repurposed from another meal, that didn't get finished up.) So that goes to the compost pile.

Asa, we have the same fridge and it looks big but it is not. We are a family of seven. We have had a small chest freezer for 15 years. But we had been buying extra meat because we are home more. We ended up buying a no frills fridge with no ice maker in order to have extra freezer space. So worth it. Great for storing all the cold drinks and extra eggs and milk in the fridge. Best thing we ever did.

@ivanjdrakov19574 жыл бұрын
Wow, Abigail is really, really improving with wearing her mask, even if it's for a few seconds longer it's still a win for everyone! I'm pretty sure that she'll eventually be able to wear it for longer than we can all imagine.. Sadly Cilla and family, this is this is the future, us wearing masks... Let's just hope that it stays this way, imagine radiation instead of the virus, we'd need full on space suits to get out the house, and even indoors we'd initially have to do some crazy stuff to keep safe.. Or another, more deadly virus comes out, I mean they just keep coming at us these viruses... This is why I really really respect Summer for putting in the extra effort to get Abigail to try again and again and again to get and keep her mask on. Keep well and be safe guys.... 😁

Hi Asa, Just a word of advice. Don't use a water bottle with the cat. If you ever got water in her ears she would get an ear infection. Not always the best choice. I suggest you use an air can or a loud bell or horn or even clap your hands. I make a hissing sound for my cat.
@tabitha48774 жыл бұрын
We use water on our cats. But we spray on their back and not their heads. Actually works really well. It’s to the point now that they just see the bottle come out and stop doing the bad thing. We hardly spray them now
