How did the SPD end up at the furthest point from the incommer on that top row? Bit odd.
@bristolsparky2 ай бұрын
Type 1,2,3 SPD made by surge devices, google it and look at the wiring diagram and location of terminals

If I need to label sockets etc I use clear labels, they look a lot more subtle than white background labels. To the point you can label coloured accessories and as long as you get the label on straight it looks alright!

I much prefer having separate lighting and socket trips for upstairs and downstairs so if there's a fault the customer still has some supply and I really like the idea of having an emergency light by the consumer unit saves worrying about looking fir a torch

Do you guys have the THTC tariff south too? it very common here in the north isles of Scotland , Wylex used to make a split board which had the spacing for the tariffs the new ones you have to make to fit, and the OLD MEMs used to have a double stacker specifically for it too but when Eaton bought them out it disappeared, Nothing wrong with the triple stacker looks nice, the EM light is great its standard aboard boats that is where i knicked the idea from 😂. and I can tell you in regard to the Storage heater if its pre 74 it will have asbestos but you can access the connections without going near it and then just hard wire the flex into the switched fuse
@bristolsparky2 ай бұрын
The flex wouldn't reach hence it was kinda like 2 birds 1 stone. Relocate and not mess with them

What does your max demand work out to ?
@bristolsparky2 ай бұрын
Calculated around 90-something amps
@keiththesparky2 ай бұрын
I seem to run into this problem quite often. By offering more selectivity in the form of dedicated circuits you can often end up around 200amp or more before diversity is applied which can still exceed the 100amp main fuse and equipment ratings after diversity is applied. Think they should be more allowances for such installations as if they are affordable it makes more sense to separate circuits more. Great Install by the way 👍🏼

Is surge ok on the other side of the switch? So it’s last to feel the voltage spike after all the circuits
@bristolsparky2 ай бұрын
Of course it is, some manufacturers have it before, some after🤷♂️

SPD is recommended to be as close to the main switch.

I'm not looking to pick fault but just curious, looks like a two phase and neutral supply so 400v potential between phases, do fusebox allow two phases in their domestic enclosures? Hager (not fusebox I know) technical told me no on a recent job where we had storage heaters on a separate phase so we had to use two separate single phase DB'S where one would have been neater like you've done here.
