Ron, Don't feel bad. My right flipper on my Space Lab was dragging as well. I replaced the flipper bushings and used a thick piece of cardboard between the flipper and the playfield as a spacer and it adjusted perfectly. Mine has the little window on it.

I admire and agree with your position on not criticizing others who work on pinball games. What follows is meant as a compliment to you and not a criticism of the previous guy who worked on this machine. Your touchup jobs look better than the previous touchups on this machine.

After watching so many of your videos it's pretty cool to see my own machine being repaired. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through it. I can't wait to watch part 2 and see it in action. I'm excited about the longer legs too. My whole family is tall so that will definitely be appreciated. Anyway I should be able to come by Friday afternoon and pick it up. Thanks Ron!

Hey Ron! I'm currently working on a Skylab myself. I've got all of the electrics and mechanicals working but I need to do some clean and touch up the playfield and cabinet. Regardless, my Skylab has a credit unit with wheel and window. Score enough points and an extra game is added. So, I have no idea what version game I have!

I've found, people who bluster like that old guy who you worked with when you where younger, their shouting to cover their own lack of knowledge. I'll share an experience I had your story reminded me of; In my job, I worked with an "Architect" who was supposed to be the system expert. I'd been tasked with investigating an issue, which I'd been looking into for 4 days. I came to the "stand up" (daily meeting the team has) on the fourth day and I presented all my findings to the team, detailing where the fault was. This "architect", lets call him Simon, started telling the team how I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about, ranting about how he's worked with the system for so many years and telling the team not to listen to what I'm saying and explaining another solution (which was transparently incorrect to anyone who actually looked at the code). I interrupted him, before he made a COMPLETE idiot of himself, and said, "Look, Simon, I've been looking at the actual code for 4 days now. I KNOW how it works because I've actually checked". He turned red and continued to bluster (strangely the young team listened to him, I guess it works on the impressionable), later, he went to HR to complain about my conduct and that I "contradadicted him in front of the team" and I was called up to "explain my conduct" where I politely explained how I was correct and offered to SHOW them how I was correct. They let it go, but, that guy, he's still an Architect, still getting promoted. So presumably, being that way works in a corporate environment (very sad). Which is why I love your work here, its all about finding out, not about posturing. You have massive knowledge but your humble and admit when your wrong, in short my kinda people! Thanks for filming all these Ron!

Very useful video as you start at the very beginning and go from there. This was a bit of a surprise as I was expecting part 2 of the clock. …. Here comes another old time pinnie brought back from the dead by Ronnie. This game will probably play real well as an Add A Ball. Looking forward to part 2.

I'm just doing clock and radio videos and stuff like that on the weekends, during the week we're going to keep doing pinball and arcade and jukebox videos like we always have, the other ones are just intended as a 'bonus' if anybody cares to watch them. I'm a sucker for these Add A Ball games, I like the concept behind it and how the law forced them to get creative!

That said, it is great to see you supporting home made or EU made. There are some great companies outside of C that don't get as much publicity because they are not as cheap to by from.

Since there is a circuit breaker on the dc output line, then probably a dc coil or the bridge rectifier is bad. Powering up the playfield will tell the tale.

Very cool machine. These dumb laws back in the day were bored lawyers before the internet. You weren't gambling. If the machine spit quarters on the floor when you did something, that would be gambling. Once your quarter went in the slot... it was not yours anymore. By that same logic, if somebody sucked at pinball, they were being unfairly stolen from. These videos are priceless for the owners of these machines. Now the owner of the machine knows how to troubleshoot problems. Most causal people don't own a meter, so you have to shoot blind. If you can't afford or use a meter, why would you buy one? I know this seems crazy to us, but it happens. BTW. I just realized; flipper damage triggers me. LOL I hate it!!!

I don't raz the owner.... if a fuse is out, try replacing it once, just in case it was a fluke... if it pops the new fuse, then it's time to troubleshoot. In fixing guitar amps, I've seen fluke conditions where a fuse replacement got the job done.

I suppose if that old guy taught you how to fix it Ron, you wouldn't need him anymore, right. Can't blame him really for trying to hold onto business. Hey until youtube, ebay, aliexpress and the like came along, guys like that would still be doing the same thing more than likely. But yea, I get what you mean, he could of been helpful, but he just chose not to be. Glad everyone don't see things the same way. But maybe I'm being too harsh, he might of been just thinking about the potential safety hazards, fire and electrocution for example. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt 🙂
