It is as you say. Both beautiful and well managed.

"The rock gets super slippery ..." You haven't lived until you've done elephant hide sections of the GPT in the rain.

wondering if could do the halls gap to barri yalug (red man road ). is that part that hard ?
@LotsaFreshAir Жыл бұрын
G'day, Not sure what you mean by Redman Road, is that where you were thinking of exiting the track from? The track between Halls Gap to Barri Yalug (via Bugiga) is all graded 4 on the Australian Walking Track Grading System. I've got a post on that description here: lotsafreshair.com/australian-walking-track-grading-system/ The tricky thing is that what is 'hard' for one person, is easy for another. So it's hard for me to tell you if something is 'that hard', sorry. Take a look at the grading system and that should help you decide what's right for you.

Are you seeing many other campers? Have you had "unsafe" feelings ? I would be on my own

Amazing videos Caro!!! Thank you so much for all the tips and insights too. I’d been wanting to hike the trail for a couple of years but am now signed up to do the inaugural GPT100MILER (I’ve chosen the 4 day staged option not do the non-stop version!) in late November. Tho I’d love to do the hike version to be able to really absorb it all (and camp) it felt too good an opportunity to pass up having some “support” as you move along, albeit rapidly and minimally, the length of this stunning trail. I had been considering using poles but RD’s have said only some parts would prob suit them - looking at your vid I can see why. The exposure is gonna be brutal late Nov too I fear!

Wow Jan. That sounds like an amazing way to do the GPT and having the support will be an amazing thing to do. You'll love it. So glad that the footage helped convey the varied terrain and yep - I took poles, but didn't use them once!
