This is ghost of the future reaching out to you. For your sanity's sake for the small diamonds cut 15 ft sections of rope and do the middle parts 5 ft and the outside ones 10 ft. I redid this thing 5 times but I finally got it. I may have needed more rope because I was using 4 mm instead of the 3 mm thickness. That was maddening but I got through it. Thank you so much for the tutorials! Can't wait to try more! Yay quarantine 2020!!!

Thanks for that help! I had short centers on Layer 1, 2 and 4. It was very sad to work that hard and have bald spots in the centers. I think the outer strands on all layers need to be longer because as they work towards the center they get too short. I used 4mm. I solved my problem by adding strings where I could to fill in and then I trimmed the whole thing to match the final fringe. It turned out really cute and I actually sold it on Facebook but it did not look like the picture.

Getting really frustrated with the diamonds in part 3, did see the edit about leaving the filler cords shorter, etc, but if I follow the directions correctly it seems you switch the cords here and there and I am working with a short filler cord making the half hitch knot, or am I doing something wrong? HELP
@heartfuldesigns4you4 жыл бұрын
@@jolandanoble3470 I hope you get an answer from her but in the meantime I think she has a video on how to add cord when you are running out or just do a search. There are several. For me I finally left out layer three and shortened layer four. It looked fine to me. No matter what you figure out it may not look like hers but it will be beautiful.👍

Beautiful pattern (all of yours are), and I appreciate the tutorials! Small suggestion, slow down a tic on the first couple of passes on a new knot/section, and angle the camera so folks can see how you are wrapping your knots. A lot of times you point to and touch strings that the audio then contradicts. I am fairly advanced and struggled massively with the small diamond chain layer, simply because I could not see what you were doing, and the audio contradicted what your hands were pointing to. I eventually just did it without trying to mimic you, going on what I know, and I was able to finally get it. This is a beautiful pattern/piece and I cannot wait to finally finish this thing and hang it on my wall!

For those struggling to do the small diamonds pattern, for the left side I used the option on the menu to reduce the speed of the video to 0,25x (top right side of screen clic on the 3 vertical dots ,same place where you change the quality of the video) for the right side which is not shown in the video, I used my husband suggestion of recording the screen then flip the image in video editor. Another pro tip is when you finish all the eleven diamonds pull them down a little bit otherwise you’re not going to be able to tie them to the thirteen cord, they are going to end up short.

Is it more of a diamond twist? I just can't seem to get it?
@susannevieira Жыл бұрын
@@hayleymoriarty3535I’ve watched the video so many times to do the diamonds, reducing the speed of the video helped me a lot and after you do the first 2 or 3 diamonds you can finish without watching the video. If you have a Tablet open the video full screen and every knot you pause the video and reproduce it on your macrame. Good luck 🤞🏼

I had a really hard time with the diamonds. I tore them out so many times my rope was frayed at the top. I ended up making a double 4 strand braid instead. As for the larger braid, I ran out of rope & came nowhere near the beautiful finish that is shown here. At this point, I don't think I am adding any of the fringes. I think it looks much better, more elegant without the fringe. But at least it is done!

I have done Part 1 and am about to start Part 2, but I see there are comments that people found the measurements incorrect. @LotsofKnotsCanada, just wondering if the text above is correct? Do I still add 4 pieces by 10 ft, then 8 pieces by 14 foot? I can't make sense of your edit which says make the cords 6 ft and 4 ft? I know it is hard to update the video, but has the text below the vide been updated? Is the text correct? Thanks for sharing your beautiful pattern.

I have just worked out the answer and I hope this helps others: It is still 4 pieces by 10 ft but the edit means that you hang these on asymmetrically, with inner cords 4 feet, outer cords 6 foot, makes sense now and has worked!

10 ft is not long enough for the 3rd layer/chain of small diamonds. Extremely frustrating that I have to start that section over. I will slip it off the end of my wood piece, hopefully I can reuse it in another project and it's not a total waste of 40 feet of rope. (I'm using 3mm)

I followed this tutorial and finished the piece. It was my first macrame hanging and I don't really like the way it turned out. My layers don't align symmetric and it bugs me. It's all my technique, i guess. I watched this video over 12 times and never saw the edit in the notes for the different cord length. I wish you had amended the video with the correct information. The wonky lengths sort of spoiled my enjoyment of this project. I also used over 1000 ft of cord. my final cord had to be from a different cord brand. le sigh. this medium frustrates me.

I think something may have gone wrong in your first Edit in the description. The filler cords are the cords that are wrapped by the working cords. The working cords are the ones that make the knots (I confirmed this information on this website: www.thesprucecrafts.com/basic-macrame-knots-4176636). Meaning that the outer (filler cords) need to be the shorter ones and the inner (working/knotting cords) need to be the longer ones.
@t.oberst25264 жыл бұрын
you use less of the filler cords (the ones that get wrapped) and therefore they don't need to be as long as the working cords. The fillers should be on the inside as stated as you use those as your "leads" to take the working cords in the directions you want...in this case to the left and right to make the diamond pattern. It's also a good way to track that you are using the correct cord in the diamonds. I am fairly advanced and I still struggled with this small diamond pattern! Just rip it out and keep trying until you get it.
