Doctor, i am trying to replace that shoelace on Ubersonic 4 but it's harder than trying to break into fort knox. This is the hardest shoes to trying replace the shoelace i have ever tried. getting the lace into the hole and trying to pull it near impossible. Any suggestions ??

I know this came out a year ago, but I just starting using this shoe. What a revelation! It's a close to a perfect tennis shoe that I've worn. Lateral support is outstanding. Firm enough for aggressive players and enough cushion for players that desire that trait. Goodyear tread is extremely durable for the hardcourts. To me, this shoe is the holy grail!

@@MsTheFrenchman I think the breathability is adequate. I've experimented with different types of socks. Everything from thinner cycling types socks (Swiftwick are my favorites) to crew socks. I would recommend these shoes with a thinner compression sock and you'll be golden. I typically play between 2-3 hours at a time and the shoe holds up nicely. Btw. in my earlier comment of said the shoe has a Goodyear sole, the shoe has a Vibram sole. I now rotate two pairs. You'll love this shoe!

Wore these for the first time today. Played nearly 4 hours. Zero break in time. No heal slippage. Great court grip. Felt like pillows on my feet. A bit of ball of foot pain at the end of my session but thats to be expected after playing so many hours. Luved these sneakers

The Saffron & Blue colorway Raptor now in stock in several places. Just got mine from Germany. Fantastic shoe, really solid feel and ankle feels locked in despite room up front. Went for my true UK size 9.5 and there is a bit more toe room which I don't mind since I have a wide forefoot but average width heel. I did order both UK 9 (43) and 9.5 (43.5) and the 9 did fit although a bit snug on forefoot width. My slightly longer left foot needed a bit more room so stuck with the 9.5 UK (43.5 EU). My old Barricades are 44 EU and fit a bit more snugly than the 43.5 Raptors but the cushioning is a no contest....Raptor by a mile in the comfort stakes.

OMG! I just unboxed my pair from Germany and they feel AMAZING underfoot! You hit the nail right on the head in your review. This shoe feels like a hybrid of all your favorite shoes of Summer 2021 - sort of like is the Adidas SC Boost had a baby with the Lotto Mirage 100. I can absolutely see why this shoe and the Diadora Blushield 5 are are top two shoes right now! Cannot wait to get them on the court!

Picked a pair up today and looking forward to testing. They feel super accommodating for my wider feet (much more than Mirage or other past Lottos) and seem to have a higher arch and maybe a touch more responsiveness than the Diadoras, which seem just a little more cushioned and flat-footed, whereas these seem to want to spring/go. (wondering if this sensation will hold true on court). Oddly enough when I was hard side-to-siding in the shop my foot was slipping just a touch in the smaller size and staying more put in the larger size, which was weird, but finally I went with the larger because it still felt plenty locked in in the heel and elsewhere. Quick note for EU buyers: the EU to US sizing is a bit odd. Whereas usually a 44 equates to a US 10, in Lottos the 43 = 10, 43.5 is a 10.5, and so on. So US sizing is accurate but EU sizing is large.

Loved the Lotto Raptors, great comfort and performance. However durability with the sole seemed poor, with a hole under my toe forming after about 3 months of play. Playing about 2-3 time per week. I'd say it has probably half the durability of Addidas or Ascics. Would love to buy again but put off by that aspect.

I'm coming from a Barricade 2015. Unfortunately adidas doesn't supply it anymore, so i had to look at another brand cause I don't like it's successor (sole court boost). I have tried a couple of shoes (asics court ff2, Asics gel solution, asics speed ff2, nike vapor pro, diadora blushield 5, adidas sole court court boost) but these raptors were the best for me by far and the most similar to the barricades. Stability is close but the raptors has a little bit more close to ground feel and are tad lighter. Just a great shoe. I have narrow feets and a low ankle - fits perfect.

I recently bought the GP Turbo's because they were in your top 5 video and while I love them, they do seem to trap a lot of heat. That’s a lot of time on court- yeah the raptors would be a good option just because they’re more durable and have similar midsole durability plus they breath much better- I still think the Ubersonic 4 is a better playing shoe for pickleball but the raptor will be much more comfortable

I love these shoes but I have a couple of complaints & questions. Firstly, it rubs hard against my malleoli & hurts if I do them up tight, (which is surprising given the huge stack with that insole) and I need to lace them super loose at the top to avoid this. Is there another solution to this? Secondly, their website says "Please choose your country from the list, this will provide you the correct pricing, currency, and shipping costs for your area" which implies that it will be in Australian dollars after choosing Australia, but I was charged US dollars instead so like $100 more, pretty damn expensive over here. When I complained about this they refused to admit that they had made a mistake with the claim about currency, didn't apologise & didn't give me any discount.

Hello Doc, amazing channel, it is my new addiction. Regarding the Lotto shoes, I've been playing in them for a month and they are almost perfect. I love the cushioning, the toebox space, the arch support. One thing I cannot get used too, though, is the ankle collar. It's just so high. It bothers my ankle bones and the external side of my Achilles tendon too. I was hoping it would break in, but it stays firm. I even tried softening it by bending it etc., but it's still annoying. I compared the collar height to some other shoes (Diadora, Head, Asics) and it's definitely the highest. Did you notice it bothering you? I guess it also depends on individual anatomy in that area. Anyway, my question is - can you suggest a way of customizing these shoes so that the ankle collar is lower? Do you think it's possible to cut out the highest parts of the ankle collar without ruining the shoe? Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words- it never bothered me but typically people who don’t like higher collars will easier use felted foam to offload the annoying areas or wear two socks to separate themselves- I’ve also seen people put orthotics with a higher arch in to raise their ankle but it takes some trialing to figure out what’s best- and sometimes there’s just shoes that don’t fit your particular foot - hope that helps 👍

GP turbo is a rare breed of shoe for bottom comfort , the NB 996 is a very comfy shoe too that has a lower ankle collar

Hi Doc, I found these online but there is no chance to try them on to fit correctly before buying, so I either get it right, or have to spend $ to ship back to them. That being said, I have a bunion on my left foot and so far the only shoe I've been able to wear is the New Balance leather 806. Do you happen to know if this shoe or any other is good for bunions? I've tried on so many that have reinforcement right over the top of the bunion area and hurt at the store, so I know they'll hurt playing pickleball. Do you have advice for me?

How do you see the shoe helping ankle sprainers to not sprain? I'm in an endless odyssee of testing shoes. I came from Hypercourt Express and do not get along with the latest model. I'm playing with bandages on both feet and I recognized it's hard to find a new shoe for my feet. They are naturally not super wide, but due to the bandages I create a very high instep. I checked eg. Sole Court Boost and Gel Resolution 8 - they both feel very comfortable from the bottom but gave me lot pressure from the top and visually cut my foot from the top - no chance than playing more than 30min with them. I felt very good in Eclipsion 3 - but I'm afraid their sole is not that wide and I fear going into trouble with my ankles again. Do you think my fear is valid? :)

All tennis shoes except a few models have pretty good ankle sprain mechanical prevention with the lateral flange- the eclipsion I think is good as well as these raptors with that really wide clip- however no shoe out there can completely prevent spraining , I would say though my very favorite shoe for ankle sprainers is the adidas stycon BOA

I’m 15 years old and I just started playing tennis a year ago. I progressed so fast that I started playing 10 hours a week. A couple months ago I started to feel pain and I stopped playing. Yes these are excellent pickleball shoes - I played a day in them for pickleball - about 1.5 hrs and did well - I still like the Ubersonic 4 more for just pure speed and quickness but these are awesome plus the more durable and comfortable midsole

Hi Zach, I've been wearing Zoom Vapor series for as long as I can remember but Vapor X is giving me some strain on mid foot and heel (I was told I have high arch that collapse into flat foot...if that makes sense at all). Should I switch to these / Vapor Pro / Asics Speed FF2 if I'm a lighter player that moves a lot on court? My midsoles seem to wear out much faster than outsoles if that matters - they are all creased up when there the outsoles are only worn out at the very far end of the heel and toes.

Yep I talk about this a lot in my vapor x video- they’re terrible for anyone who has more flexible arches- If it were me id steer clear of the more minimalist shoes- if any I’d go with the SSFF2 or the gel res 8 or something like the GP turbo , solecourt boost, blushields, raptors , etc

I'm currently size 11.5 and I wear thorlo socks which are really thick. Considering the nike gp turbo run a half size small and my current size is too small already + the sock thickness..should I jump to size 12.5 for the nike gp turbo or will the shoe be too long?

That’s gonna be a ton of shoe probably will give you awkward movement, I’d either look to another shoe or just put some thick adhesive felt under the tongue of the shoe where your metatarsals are to stop your foot from sliding forward in the shoe

Doctor Zack, I usually experience big toe pain from toe hitting toe cap. The fila shoes didn’t bother me much but they weren’t wearable for long at all. Most every other shoes bother me. I’ve tried snug fit and half size larger but it seems to have solely to do with toe cap firmness or room perhaps. Any suggestions?

This review on the Lotto Raptor brings to mind your video on the Thiem hybrid Adidas Solecourt Boost shoe he wears with the Bounce midsole. Does the Raptor come close to what the custom SCB shoe would play like with a Bounce midsole as you described in that video? From your description, it gives me that impression - the Raptor plays like a more responsive SCB.

just my 2 cents: the Raptors feel very different in terms of fit. While the scb has very very wide forefoot the rators are noticible thinner and more responsive. SCB feelst like a bit like swimming if you don´t have wide feets. Another big diffence is the heel - while the scb are a little bit slippery the raptors really locks your feet in the shoe which gives you very connected feel.

I use this shoe and I like it a lot. It fits my foot well. I usually have trouble getting shoes that adapt to my feet. So, Im interested in the ASICS ff series. How do they compare? The ASICS resolution 8 don’t fit well- heel slippage. Lotto fits well. ASICS ff I don’t know.

Is the diadora blueshield 3 similar in fit to the raptor? The diadora are on sale at 81 dollars at tennis warehouse so it’s a great price. Which have better quality? Which one secures the ankle and heel better? Which one is more comfortable? I like the raptors a lot but the diadora seem good also. I have flat feet.

Would there be anything to gain from using them for an "autopsy"? Love the shoe, but these likely had 120 hours on them now and I can see the midsole is shot (I can send pictures if you like showing these and my new pair of Raptors, side by side). It is just as you described in your video of Show Lifespan - creasing, curling, etc. Let me know.

Hello Doc, I bought this shoe like I said in the other video (I ask to compare the number with the asics GR8), I like the shoe but the sole is tearing away from the midsole and I only played with them 3x times. This is not a cheap shoe, and clearly not as good on the durability or Quality control. Have you experienced this? I would love to send you some photos so you can see what I'm saying. Very disappointed on Lotto, lets see how the warranty goes ...

Not happy with Lotto right now. My asics GR8 are almost a year old and they cost half the price of the lotto, at the time promotion, and they are in better shape than this used 3x time lotto. Maybe they can still save this situation, it depends what they decide with the warranty, but one thing is certain: I paid the money, they are unplayable at the time and is going to take weeks or months to have a new pair or the money. Regret leaving asics, should have go with FF2. Ps: I send you the photos to your Instagram

@@FootDoctorZach Interesting! I was sure you'd say Court FF. Could you elaborate a little bit on why? I have a history of ACL tear (many years ago) and ankle sprain. I just overall have less confidence in one of my knees, although I'm a pretty athletic guy. I just got the Lottos in my size, and they are a bit tight, especially with their thick insole (less than a finger's width on the front), so I'm deciding whether to keep them (or go half a size) or try the FFs.

It’s not that the court ff2 is bad it’s just that I always like 3 piece tongue over slipper with any knee or ankle issue and otherwise these are both about on equal footing with the court ff2 being more durable though

@@FootDoctorZach I did. I can't find anything for less money that approaches these shoes in the unique blend of comfort, speed, stability, and fit. I have a pair of Diadora BS5s which I know you think are close, but they feel more like a more cushioned and speedier than the Asics GR8 or Adidas Barricade to me - not really a direct comparison to the Raptor. The GP Turbo is less stable than the Raptor. The new Barricade is more clunky and does not fit well (or have as much cushion). The SC Boost is heavier and less mobile. I have tried all these shoes and I keep coming back to the Raptor. What about the Yonex Eclipsion 3, Zach?
