Love your commitment. I see you used a boot briefly! Can you help me locate my fuel filter? I notice that under your car there is a cylindrical unit with two pipes. My fuel pump is like yours close to the filler hose but no sign of the filter in that area. We have the same configuration and I can’t find the filter anywhere!

ah. just a few days ago i was filming the replacement of the fuel filter video. wont be posting that for a while, but in short you need to remove the plastic trimming under the hood stowage compartment. you will find a little metal plate/panel on the side of the fuel tank held by 4 screws. remove it and you get the fuel filter right there in your face. Removing it is dificult according to other owners i spoke with. Mine was very easy because i already had the fuel tank out giving plenty of access from the oposite side. Check Lotus elan Central Forum and you will find plenty of advice.... obviously if you can wait (probably 6 months) i will eventually have a video on it whenever i get to do the editing of it

@@tuga2112 thank you for this. I thought I looked around the filler cap area but could not find the panel. So can I check: it’s on the same side as the fuel pump? Between that and the filler tube?

The fuel pump is inside the tank. The fuel filter is on the inner side of the car. You need to remove the plastic trimming underneath the hood stowage compartment before you can see the metal panel that covers the filter

i can only guess. as when i started this i already had the carpets and the hood stowage compartement trim removed. but at leasured pace 2 to 3 hours is my guess, could be longer i guess. took me a whole day to record the video. but that comes with additional time invested in film production .

One more thing: you use jewellers screwdrivers to remove the fuel lines - how exactly?

I just use them to pop the clips by pushing against them. Exactly the same as the special tool from lotus does. You can always fabricate a piece of metal with the same shape as the lotus tool I guess. I just found the small screwdrivers had enough reach to pop the clip without damaging anything

Hi again do you know what engine valves I could use as I need to put some into a new cylinder head. Does Isuzu make some I can put in?

No idea. I would be checking the lotus Elan Central for that information. Although it's the same engine as the impulse. I know there's enough differences that when it comes to specific stuff like that you need to do proper research before assuming the Isuzu part is right
