The chassis from our Elan was sent for glass bead blasting to remove the slight corrosion and general dirt/grease/grime build up. After blasting it was coated in two pack primer to prevent the bare metal corroding.
Back in the workshop, it’s time to assess the minor damage to some of the bracketry and also establish if the chassis is still straight.
We have a receipt from 1982 for the chassis being straightened, but it’s impossible to say if the car has sustained any damage since then which would have caused the chassis to deform again. The front end damage apparent on the shell doesn’t look like it would have been sufficient but you don’t know until you check.
