This is so helpful. I was struggeling on how to get the wishbones out. I never had the idea to do it when not full disassembled

Hi Steve, really fantastic videos. How did you find that these upgraded bushings/bearings affected vehicle Noise Vibration and Harshness? I’m thinking of doing the same on my Elise 111S but I’m a bit concerned that NVH would be a lot worse for general road use. Thanks

I wonder if the rose joints that you are using will make installation back into the chassis as difficult as the urethane bushings were for me. Both rear wishbones are very difficult to reinstall, the front upper a-arm with the caster shims is the worst of them all.

For my front upper wishbone, the bolt goes through from the rear side and I think the steering rack gaiter is in the way to remove it. Did you have to separate that ball joint to get the wishbone free? I think if the bolt was on the opposite side I could remove it without disconnecting it. I'm considering putting it in the opposite way when I reinstall.

Hi Mark, yes in my case I did split the ball joint. And sometimes people install those bolds in the wrong direction. splitting the balljoint is easy
@markcorkum3850
@markcorkum3850 4 жыл бұрын
@@D3Sshooter ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if it would be pressed in and difficult to split. Did you put the bolt on the other side when you put it back together? I can't come up with a reason I wouldn't. As always, thanks for the Elise videos. They're well done and a huge help!

Turn the steering wheel all the way to retract the tie rod. The bolt will slide by the gator clip with a mm to spare. The tie rod moves a lot more than you think it should.

@@davidtimberlake4995 yeah, I think that's what I ended up doing. I didn't turn them around on the install though, like I originally wanted.

Did you have any problems with the anodized pieces fitting in? I have a couple that don't want to snap in and I don't want to force them.

Are you replacing urethane bushings with bearings or did your car have bearings to begin with?
@D3Sshooter

Daniel Quaroni i changed the originals with bearing based bushes. Txs for commenting

Ahhh OK cool. In the video you were a little confusing calling them bushings/bearings. Would have been useful to call out that it came with bushings stock but you're replacing with bearings

I have 2009 Elise, my rear wheels started to show when driving in low rpm, I feel like bumps every 2 seconds, is that symptoms of bearings worn out?
@D3Sshooter
@D3Sshooter 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, that is hard to tell. But I would rather expect that the tires or rims are deformed. Jack up the car and spin the rear wheel by hand and see if they turn evenly ( need to put the gear in neutral). If the bearings are gone , then you will have a grinding sound...
