Lotus or Chinese Geely? China are slowly hollowing out western companies and jobs. They cannot get traction with their own brands so they use western brands against us. This hollowing out will eventually empty out every single sector as they move all industries in house to China. Lotus knowledge will sucked out and moved to China. The staff in the UK will be used and tossed aside. By buying a Chinese car, unlike any other purchase, you are directly supporting a Chinese Communist Party owned company. All car companies in China are directly or indirectly owned by the CCP. You are supporting CCP design, technology, and engineering. China are a self proclaimed enemy of western democracy and free people, that may sound like hyperbole but it is manifestly true. They are a communist/totalitarian regime. Partnership is not a part of their thinking process. It is the cover they use to slowly dismember western economies. They do not want partnership they want control and ownership. This is and will increasingly bleed in to political control and eventually erosion of western freedoms. China simply cannot allow freedom of thought or speech, it is not only antithetical but an existential threat to their regime. They cannot afford to limit the restrictions on freedom in their own country as this is would be a constant pressure on their regime. So they need to extinguish freedom in as many places as possible. It is and innate need for all empires/civilisations to spread their model. We are walking ourselves in to totalitarian control. If you think it seems too far fetched then you need to think deeper and harder. If you think this process will be benign, you are wrong. China will slowly tighten their grip on democracy, it is already starting to happen, they constantly require other nations to limit their speech. On the current course, in the not too distant future, your government will be controlled by China, directly or indirectly, you will not be allowed to change your government, and your government will impose every single decision handed down by China. You will not be able to protest or question these decisions. You and your children will grow up without any freedom for the rest of your/their lives. As one example China forcibly sterilised and aborted their own women in the 80's, dragged them in to horrific surgeries, now the Uyghurs are being subjected to the same treatment. Fully charged directly support Chinese Communist Party controlled car companies. Even after they have seen China stripping democratic freedom from Hong Kong, or 1 million Uyghurs forced in to concentration camps, or China's support of North Korea's starvation of its population. Fully charged condone the Chinese regime. They think their agenda trumps that of freedom. Freedom (whilst imperfect) is the most important value we can hold, the alternative is a life of servitude. To have contempt for personal freedom as Fully Charged do is the highest form of immorality. All of the staff are accountable and deeply immoral people.

I’m sick to death of having to go onto a screen and then dig five menus deep just to turn something on or off. It’s dangerous and thoroughly unfriendly. Somehow, Harry's videos tend to be a cut above the rest. His interview with Gordon Murray over the T33 is by far the best, as is this review of the Emira. His tempered exuberance manages to convey his passion without the distracting. over the top dialogue you get from some other reviewers.

What do you think the Chinese Communist Party can't do, using western labour to help them achieve their goals? I mean they are able to get people like you to cheer for their cars and not care one bit about the genocide they're doing to the Uyghurs, or their plans to invade Taiwan...
@bmx6872 жыл бұрын
Mclaren screwed themselves by over saturating the market. Mclaren released and manufactured way to many cars. Mclaren made their product a commodity. Lotus knows their audience. Lotus understands supply and demand. The majority of Lotus that are created are ordered by people that want them....unlike Mclaren - just building shit willy nilly and sending them to dealers without any demand of them.
@pistonburner64482 жыл бұрын
Lol, who says Lotus will not struggle? How do you know how much money they've had to sink in this car already, and if they'r ever going to make a cent of revenue on it? It's all just a vehicle of invading the western market for the Chinese Communist Party anyway.

It's a rehash of the Evora. Chinese money is going into electric powertrains...
@TassieLorenzo2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it is predominantly the same car as the Evora. You could call it an extensive facelift. If you compare the side profiles, the A, B & C pillars are all in the same place as before. It is still utterly excellent, mind you. :)

So good looking! Love the looks, blue and yellow in particular. Such a nice take on sports car as well, reasonable price, tour or sport spec. But 1400 kg...even a Tesla Roadster ("Lotus EV") is only 1300.

Many safety and crash requirement changes since 2008
@olamarvin2 жыл бұрын
@@thestoicwhinger Fair enough. Different perspective: a Model 3LR has more hp, 4WD, creature comforts for 4-5 adults, huge luggage space, same crash standards, plenty of steel in the structure and of course a huge lithium battery. And it only weighs 452 kg more. If petrol powered is so heavy anyway, it would be cool to see a Lotus 2 seater EV.

1400kg is really not bad for a sportscar of this type IMO.

Hate to correct Harry but I have a launch edition Evora and it does have armrests. Including one in the middle of the car. I'm not saying it's practical but it did have somewhere to put your arm with a small pocket for sunglasses, wallet etc. It also has a glove compartment and BACK SEATS. So it's basically a practical car 😂😂😂

I think he was referring to the GT version he drive, which had the door cards of the GT410 with no arm rests. The earlier and final cars did have them indeed.

It's good to see Lotus Emira back into securing their market segment. Awaiting Harry's experience living with Emira comparing Alpine or Cayman
@ronretired2822 жыл бұрын
I think that would be a fair review for the European market. In the states the Cayman would win hands down. The dealer network and market share would be too much for the Emira to obtain a fair review.

Lovely analogue experience, Harry. That came through loud 'n' clear. (We're in there with you). If only the same could be said of the dash display. Bring it up to our neck of the woods (Trough of Bowland) and let the hills reverberate to that lovely supercharged V6. The Inn at Whitwell would be graced! Simon.

Harry when you first drove it hard we can see the speedo hitting over 130kph. As it's pre-production you could always claim it's not calibrated / inaccurate etc, but might be best to edit that bit out on a public video, especially as it's obviously filmed on UK roads 😊😁
@hpman9112 жыл бұрын
Are you a policeman?? The road was clear and empty!
@TheAdwills2 жыл бұрын
@@hpman911 no, if I was I would have booked him. I have no issue with Harry giving it the beans on a clear and empty road, but showing the speed you are travelling at on a public road on a publicly viewable video has been used to secure driving convictions in the UK. Just a friendly word of warning. What's your problem, do you want to see him done for speeding and no more Harry's Garage videos? I don't, you need to get over yourself.
@hpman9112 жыл бұрын
@@TheAdwills I’m sure Harry appreciates you bringing this to everyone’s attention. Having viewed the excellent video have you nothing more worthwhile to comment on? As a cyclist most of those in the London area think they are above the law and totally ignore any kind of traffic light or Highway Code so your comment has a somewhat strange irony.
@TheAdwills2 жыл бұрын
@Jonathan White whataboutism at its finest! I ride a bike for fun and fitness, so what? I don't live or cycle in London so your ridiculous comment has absolutely nothing to do with me and is so wide of the mark as to be laughable. If you want to make comments in that vein, the number of car drivers I see jumping red lights, using hand held mobiles, overtaking before blind bends, tailgating, using the wrong lane despite arrows painted in the road etc etc is appalling yet I would never tar all drivers, myself included, with the same brush. Did I like seeing and hearing Harry drive the Lotus hard on an empty road? Yes, of course. Have I done the same thing on several occasions in the 3 Ferraris that I have owned, particularly in tunnels with the roof down? Absolutely. Did I film it and post it on KZbin in a way that anyone can see the speed I was doing? Absolutely not, I don't want points on my license, and don't think Harry would want that either. Hence my comment. Now, if you've nothing better to say, why don't you toddle off back to your mummy's basement and stop bothering the grown ups?
