My Evora S was a daily driver for 3 years in the UK, commuted 60 miles a day, several track days and loved every minute. Not a single break down VS Range rover, BMW and Audi which have all cost me a fortune to fix and keep on the road. I also sold it for what I paid with an extra 3 years/ 25k wish extra miles on it. Awesome things. It was also great for my son (6 months-3 years) in the rear seats. Trying to get in a 410 GT Sport at the moment in the UK but prices staying high.

Good luck sir, the newer version sound the bees knees. I love the clean uninterrupted sound of the motor and am a card carrying hater of the burble pop bang exhausts everyone has in the last 8 or so years. I personally blame the Jaguar F-type for starting that trend, it was exciting then until everybody was doing it and now its obnoxious and obscures the notes of the exhaust at every part of the rev range. I have always rooted for Lotus and I hope that they get to continue making cars well into the future.

Lotus cars (except the 06 Elise) are pretty rock solid. All Toyota parts, easy to find. I've been a real fan of Lotus since the day I went to a Road & Track event at Laguna Seca. There was a Ford GT, Ferrari F430, Porsche GT, Lamborghini Gallardo, Dodge Viper, Corvette ZO6, Porsche Turbo S and Lotus Elise. It was a terrific opportunity to drive this sports cars on a historic track. My favorite in this order was the Ferrari F430, the Lotus and the Z06. The Lotus was the lightest best go cart handling vehicle there. It was being used by the driving school at Laguna Seca because they handled so well and had the Toyota drive train which was bullet proof. Know a guy with the Evora 410...fantastic sports car.

I bought a 2021 Evora GT two weeks ago, had 1,060 miles on it, black with sick gold rims. I was looking to buy an old 1990s Esprit Turbo, always loved them, rare, unique. I stumbled across the Evora, had never even heard of it or seen one and I live in Miami, COOLEST car I had ever seen, the styling, then read over performance, and price at $100k, I bought the car 2 days later without ever seeing it, driving it, was at dealer about an hour away, delivered it to me. In last 20 years I have had boxster, 911, C5 vette, and 2006 Aston Martin Vantage first year it came out. Nothing compares to the Evora, got on empty expressway, floored it up entrance ramp, seconds later 110 I looked down was doing 110, thought I was going about 80!!! Doing 100mph in this car feels as smooth, stable, under control as if you were going 50, handling simply unbelievable. I never put my windows up, because The sound of that engine and exhaust even at 30 mph is greatest sound I have ever heard. I feel bad for every guy with a Porsche or even Ferraris, because they probably never even knew about an Evora, and spent 2-3x as much for their “sports” cars that everyone has in Miami, that my $100k Evora equals or exceeds, and has styling that just screams bring it on in your automatic Ferrari.

Great review by someone who understands what the Evora can do. I'm on my second Evora, a GT410 Sport, both of which have been far more reliable than BMWs, Mercedes and Range Rovers that I have owned - once you drive an Evora, it feels like a drink of mountain spring water in a Coca-Cola world - everything else seems plastic in comparison. But if you want a car that your friends recognise as a status symbol, and don't care that much about the steering, get a 911. Sorry, my Evora GT410 Sport isn't for sale, I'm keeping it as it's like will disappear soon..

whats the best souding v6 if not this one? argueably is better than even lc500 v8 bc its more high pitch and exciting but also smooth and more interesting than a average inline 4 especiialy with a exhuast mod to make it less raspy soudnng tin can soudning and more sharp.

Just picked up an Evora 400 last week. Thanks for your review. It is spot on with the driving feel. You can do all the research you want but once you get into the car and drive it you will know why people love these cars. That's what happened to me. I drove it for 400 miles straight after I bought it and didn't feel exhausted at all. It's the only car that matches or possibly exceeds the original NSX (my weekend car).

I love the Evora. I was gifted one of those exotic track days and among all my choices I (wisely in retrospect) selected the Evora. My thinking it was a small track and I would better benefit by the smaller and lighter car. I was on par with the normal track time my final lap, hitting over 140 on the main straight. Definitely caught the bug from that. Car was small, uncomfortable and an absolute joy to drive. As a total new guy I tuned the car out completely and it felt extremely natural to me. Looking back, this car very much made me appreciate the brand more than I ever did before. Gorgeous car.

@Sunamer Z Captain obvious...of course a 30+ year old affordable when new mr2 chassis isn't going to match a fairly modern premium, low volume exotic sports car chassis. But $5-10k diy all in for a Honda K or 3.5 GR swapped Mr2 = a pretty fun toy.

Soooooooooooooooooo happy to see this superb car reviewed by my favourite reviewer. Thanks, Geese! Love my Evora and you can drive this every day; I do about 12000 miles per year in mine. No it's not as convenient as a Porsche, but nor is it so dull and lifeless, as you rightly say. Small point: the designer was Russell Carr, not Richard.
@rootsmanuva824 жыл бұрын
Some people complain that the Evora has a Toyota V6 (2GR-FE). Lotus could've done a lot worse. They could've opted for GM's "High Feature V6", like the god awful 2.8T from the Saab Turbo X (276 hp). That engine is about as smooth as 24 grit sandpaper, laggy and heavy. Or a turbocharged 4 cylinder from literally any manufacturer. The 2GR-FE is at least smooth, refined and very reliable. It sounds pretty good too.

Ahh...what a car! I drove the 400 when I was in the market for a sports car. I wound up going with a Boxster because I needed it for every day driving and I wanted a convertible. But, now that I’m passed that phase and am now looking for a special weekend fun car, this one is at the top of my list! You got my juices flowing!!!

Amazing and stunning looking car. I really like the seat color combination and especially how they have placed the Lotus emblem on the headrest. There's a lot of people that think these cars are Ferrari's or high end exotics at first glance in person. I've driven past a few of these Evora's around the city with my passengers, who are pretty knowledgeable on cars, that think they have just seen a new Ferrari.

I'm the lucky owner of a European spec Lotus Evora S MY2012 with the automatic gearshift, which I bought new at the time. I came from two Elises. The reasons I chose that over the manual gearshift were two reasons: I drive a lot in the city, with the car as my daily driver, so changing gears is a hassle in stop-and-start traffic; also, Lotus did not have a footrest for your left foot to the left of the clutch pedal. Because of the forward design, the front wheel arch comes into the cabin in such a way that there is simply no space for such a footrest. Consequently, your foot is in constant extension, tiring your muscles. A right hand drive car doesn't have that problem: so as an English car, I believe Lotus just didn't think about that. Anyway, this car is the best car I've ever driven, and having done multiple European road trips, it puts a smile on my face, every time I get in. After 100.000 kms, I can tell you one thing: you do not need another car. Thank you again for a beautiful report!

Solid review & you captured the essence well, but........Danny Bahir was not the CEO who approved the Evora, that was Mike Kimberley who was a direct link back to Tony Rudd & Colin Chapman, so the lineage is real & direct in terms of Lotus’ philosophy. The car is a daily driver; I have a 400 & drive it Spring thru Fall in Colorado as every drive is an occasion. My X5 is a jello mold by comparison & is strictly for winter weather. Lotus IS the ultimate driving machine, BMW (or Porsche), not so much! The Evora, whether as a N/A, S, 400 or GT, is the best drivers car money can buy. Period. Get one, you will never regret it & never want to sell it. I promise you.
